The Toughest Choices in the Game (heavy spoilers regarding s

To me, the above issues are the toughest decisions the game has to offer. Unlike some other quests where there's either a definite good and bad outcome or there's clear levels of success ranging from the best to the worst, these are very debatable and seem to have no "correct" answer. Usually they're issues where the death of a guilty party could have negative results or the death of an innocent party could have positive results, OR the party in question is simply of debatable morals and it's not clear if they're good or bad.

So that's why I wanna know what decision people make with these issues and why they chose the path they chose. I'm curious to see what the most popular options are.

Brotherhood of Steel was always the toughest. they really aren't the best for the Mojave, but they also aren't the worst. And with the Legion, Powdergangers and Fiends that's saying a lot.

This was a great idea!

Thanks.

Like I've said before, my main character is basically my interpretation of what the canon Courier Six is like, and I think the canon ending will probably be the most "good" ending. These decisions are therefore VERY difficult for me because they're so grey. You can improve Freeside and end up getting the Kings exterminated by Mr. house. You can save the Mojave from technological terrorists and make Veronica, one of your friends, incredibly upset. :banghead:

I'd go on a limb and say that the Legion is the best option for the Mojave.

To me, it was very difficult decide what to make of the Great Khans.

Since the beginning of the playthrough I kept as much a neutral standing
as possible with everyone that wasn't being hostile to me,
thus 'No Gods, No Masters' was the natural path to follow.
I had no qualms turning against the Legion and
forgetting about NCR after convinving the Kings and BoS
to relax a bit about their hard feelings.

But the Khans... In the end I wished them well out of the Mojave,
as that, in my eyes, would be their only option for survival.
I think I've done 'Oh, My Papa!' at least 5 times before
taking that final path.

Care to explain why? For the stability?

Yeah but like you said, wishing them well out of the Mojave is the best option for them. I think few would disagree with you as there's absolutely no downside to that option.
The problem with the decisions above is that someone either HAS to die to save the life of another or someone has to die to prevent a certain danger from befalling the Mojave.

I believe that Mr. House is the best fit for the Mojave.

Caesar deserves to die although you could negotiate a deal that keeps him in Flagstaff and his empire but he can't enter the Mojave nor ever attack New Vegas.

What Chief Hanlon was doing is wrong but I wouldn't turn him in because he wants to save the NCR from Kimball's stupidity.

I like the Brotherhood of Steel but this group isn't the Capital Wasteland Boy Scouts so I don't see them as a good thing for the Mojave.

I would try for a compromise between the Kings and the NCR but of course that isn't a good ending for the Kings since I support House.

I feel the NCR is a necessary 'evil' to get the country back on its feet.

Caesar deserves to die even from a Legion standpoint. He is fearful, and weak. Under his own rules there is no reason one of his own (big guard punching guys) has not taken him out, and taken over. He lies about how unfaithful Lanius is, and that he is nothing more then a feral dog. Am I glad Caesar is... Caesar, and not Lanius? Sure from an NCR standpoint, however the faction would be so much more if they had a leader like Lanius who actually believed in the cause.

Honestly out of 4 full games I have only encountered Chief Hanlon once, and that was my Legion character so Hanlon did not do any talking...

Out of all the ways for the NCR, and Kings to settle things I felt best about doing it the good old talk 'em down way.

I'm not saying a bad question but didn't find any of the above "tough choices" when playing my usual do-gooding, armed to the teeth, drug fuelled, hippy character. The tough choices for me were whether to let that family out of the reactor or solve the share-croppers water problem, whether to kill Motor-Runner and whether to exploit Cook-Cook's bovine affection by killing his pet cow.

That is the only choice on my first run (as true to myself as I can be) that I had to step away from the game for a bit to think about... I would vote that the single hardest choice in the game.

That's funny.

The first time I got to that quest I thought "ppffftt, this vault is old as dirt. No telling how old that message is" and chose the sharecroppers path.

Then another playthrough I played as-good-as-possible and realized that the family is very much alive and do show up in the Mojave if you save them. Ever since then, I always save them.

But... Wait :)
I admit I had to stop at those times as well, thinking a little bit.
For Cook-Cook, the thinking lasted like 3ns (nano-seconds):
poor cattle had no guilt and still hasn't. My steaks come from elsewhere :)

For Motor-Runner, it took some days. I had delivered a package to him,
then I heard stories.... I spoke to him again several days after and asked him
what happened to the original folks of Vault 3. I needn't hear more.
He was just consuming oxygen.

The though one, I agree with you, indeed was saving some trapped, unlikely survivor or...
Well.. Uh... Wait. Sharecroppers have other places to go and try... Haven't they?
If there's any chance anyone still alive down there... Even a tiny chance... Ok.
Redirect control to the dwellers. I was so surprised when .... what... A week after,
I went searching for tin cans at the ...ok, you know the place, and ...
WHAT the [gulp]? WOW! You must be THOSE folks from down there!
Hey, pleased to meet you!

I was ... I felt... Sooo good. Really :)

I like this game... Glitches notwithstanding.

True to CAESAR!

I never killed Caesar. Lanius isn't fit to be leading an Empire. He's a perfect general by all means but an Empire? No. He's too savage and brutal while Caesar is also brutal but very intelligent. He thinks ahead. Think about actually allying the White Glove Society, recruiting Gomorrah, blowing up the Monorail Station. All these were huge points in the battle of Hoover Dam.

But as for the rest, I do what is necessary for the Wasteland to have civilization. The Kings are useless because when Caesar marched in, he'll obviously annex Freeside along with New Vegas. That's obvious.

Brotherhood of Steel, too greedy. I liked the Lyons Brotherhood from Fallout 3. Even during the original games that I played way back in 2004 or so, I didn't really like the Brotherhood of Steel. They were exterminated to the last man.

I hate Super Mutants. No comment,.

Fiends are just my way of getting rid of pent up anger. Nothing like swinging a sword or punching an idiot with a nicely placed shot to the head. And the Fiends are my idiots.

The choice of Honest Hearts seems extremely difficult, but that's for another forum.
