Run option?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:02 am

For Xbox/PS3, is there any way to run in FONV? Is the speed of your character controlled by how hard you push the left control stick?
I believe you move faster as well with light armor/no armor, but other than that there's no run option that I can tell except from the control stick.

LoL So what you're trying to say is that there's no need to run cause it's an rpg then.
I can't remember after playing FO3, but I don't recall there being an option.

Nope, there was not. There were mods I think for the PC version (sprinting used up your AP), but nothing in the game by default.

As said, this is an RPG, not an FPS like Halo, CoD, or Battlefield. Your character runs as fast as their body allows them to.

K, fair enough, that's kind of what I was looking for without reminding me what type of game I was playing.
I know a few situations where it would have been nice to be able to run a bit faster.. guess I'll just have to take off my armor or raise agility a bit more.

There should be a sprint option like in Halo Reach where you can only sprint for a short period of time but you run 2x faster and you can't shoot while doing it. And don't go flaming me saying "OMG UR new player GO PLAY FPS YOU svck".

On the console you don't need a run button. You run your maximum speed if you hold the stick all the way. You walk if you don't. On the PC there is a run/walk key, but since we don't have anologue sticks, we kinda need the button.

This.

I actually would have liked a feature like this, perhaps sprinting which uses up AP mentioned in a previous post?

But cannot really complain, Though I would think it would be funny to see the sprint animation in third person view....

Speed of your character is controlled by your agility and what kind of armor you are wearing, as well as how far you push on the control stick. There's a perk that also increases your running speed if you wear light armor, but other than that there is no other way to increase speed than to wear light armor and have high agility.

Thanks for confirming, that's what I expected. Now if I could figure out a good calculation for how Endurance factors into HP, or how HPs are calculated, that would be a huge help.

Who needs mods to run? You just run
Basically holding SHIFT causes your PC to do the opposite of what your default is set to... If you walk by default, holding SHIFT will make you run, (and Vice Versa if you toggle the Capslock Key).
The PC cannot run if overloaded, in this case you just drop some of the weight, and then they can run again.

On the XBOX... I dunno exactly how... but its a fair bet that it must be in the manual somewhere... and if not  Does the Xbox allow configuring the game controller?

My [utter] guess would be that there is a button that you hold while moving that might cause you to run.

First off, putting hundreds of hours in Fallout 3 and over a hundred so far in NV I had no idea upping your agility makes you run faster. On Fo3 Im sure It didn't as, well everyone had 9 or 10 after level 28 or 30 right? But I am for running fast, cause half the game time is spent traveling somewhere. I got the perk to run 10% faster it helps but I wish it was 25% faster. Just sick of spending so much time moving so fast. Also we get it's not call of duty its an rpg, but seems to me there should be a sprint option in here even more so considering the world is so huge, and a little sprint could save your butt against that giant Deathclaw on the highway.

Hey guys I don't think agility makes you run any faster. I tried 1 agility vs 10 and I ran from point a to point b in exactly the same amount of time. Would somebody like to prove me wrong? When Travel Light is added, there was a 10% difference. Personally, I think 10% is pretty weak. It's neat knowing that you are basically going through the game 10% faster, but that only matters long term. When in combat or going from here to there, 10% really doesn't mean much.

Does anybody think the 10% from Travel Light matters? I wish it was more like 20%.
