DT of various enemies

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:27 pm

Does anyone know the "DT" of Deathclaws and other tough enemies?? Is there a listing somewhere? Wiki does not seem to have the info. I;d like to know so that I can predict ahead of time which ammo type will work better.

For instance - hollow point works great on feral ghouls, but maybe not so good on Nightkins??

I've been wondering this as well... The perk "Living Anatomy" shows you an enemy's DT and health, but I haven't made a character with a high enough medicine skill to get it yet.

Dunno what the base DT is but according to the GECK advlt deathclaws & Super Mutants have +15 DT Securitrons have high DT of +20 or 30 if MK2 the other really high DT is the hover dam turret with +30 and Mr Gutsy with +25 a few others have low bonus DT of 4-5.

its unfortunate, but as helpful as the collectors guide has been, the guy neglected to list the DT's in the bestiary.

Yes he did, and it is kind of annoying. I posted here looking for a list a few days ago. Looks like its up to us to make one.

In the GECK, you'll need to look at, Actors / Creature to find the base creature (i.e. "CrRadscorpion1Small") and look at the Actor Effect list to find what DT effect it uses (i.e. "RadscorpionDT" which gives 5 DT). If the variant says "Use actor effect list", the actor effect window will be greyed out and you can just refer to the base template. For humanoid NPCs, look under Actors / NPC.

Spoiler

Radscorpion 5DT
Giant Radoscorpion 18DT

Protectron 8DT
Robobrain 15DT
Sentrybot 18DT

Securitron Mk1 20DT
Securitron Mk2 30DT

Cazador 0DT
Gecko 0DT
Golden Gecko 0DT
Fire Gecko 0DT
Night Stalker 0DT
Fire Ants 0DT

Nightkin have 15% DR
Super Mutant 15DT

Deathclaw, Baby 5DT
Deathclaw 15DT
Deathclaw, Alpha 15DT
Deathclaw, Mother 15DT

Ghouls 0DT
Ghouls, Feral Trooper - still zero DT!

It's very uneven, there's a lot of critters where you'd expect even a handful of DT points, and there isn't. Or that larger enemies like the alphas/mothers would have more DT then the base variant.

Hey, that list gives me an idea.

.45-70 HP in a brush gun vs. a Deathclaw:

DAM: 75*1.75 = 131.25
DT: 15*3 = 45
Final DAM: 86.25

.45-70 SWC Brush vs. Deathclaw:

DAM:75*1.15 = 86.25
DT: 15-3=12
Final DAM: 74.25

This means HP ammo still does more damage in a high damage gun vs. a higher DT target than the equivalent AP round. This bears further testing, I think. Volunteers?

EDIT: As an additional point, HP ammo is by far more common than standard .45-70 or cases. IMHO, it's the hardest ammo to find in the game next to mini nukes. If my math checks out, then this actually makes HP a viable option in later game.

On very hard, scorpions and security bots have 36 , deathclaws and some mutants on the Black Mountain have 30, cazadors have no DT iirc , and off the top of my head Legion 10-15 ,Ghoul Roamers, Security Officer Ghouls(?) and Glowing Ones definitely had some too. And Veronica has 31 in PA ;-)

Your math looks right, and that certainly accords with my experience using the brush gun. I haven't had much opportunity to use SWC ammo, but the HP seems like it does more damage.

And thank you all, this is exactly the sort of information I was hoping would be posted.

Snabbik and Encair - thanks for posting data - got most of the critical enemies covered there!

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_combat

"The damage formula is calculated as follows:

DAMAGE_TO_TARGET = (DMG+CRITDMGxBC-DT)xSAxHSxAMxDMxPERK_MULTIPLIERS
The main thing to note is that target's damage threshold is subtracted directly from base weapon damage before any multiplicative modifiers are applied. "

So....

.45-70 HP in a brush gun vs. a Deathclaw:

DT: 15*3 = 45
DAM: ((75-45)*1.75)=52.5

.45-70 SWC Brush vs. Deathclaw:

DT: 15-3=12
DAM:((75-12)*1.15)=72.45

HP works great on Nightkin for me. AFAIK, Super Mutants do not have any DT, or at least a very low DT since they can't wear armor. They make up for it with a high END and STR rating and tons of hit points.

According to GECK, it's nightkin that have zero DT. Regular SMs (all variants) have 15 DT - even the named chumps like Marcus (who just have a lot of hit points).

15 DT is about medium-high for New Vegas.

The scale seems to be:

0 - no armor at all (maybe some damage resist)
1-4 - low-end (light) armor
5-9 - getting into the medium armor here
10-14 - heavier armor like leather
15-19 - the nastier critters, lighter weight guns just won't do it
20-24 - starting into the "you've gotta be kidding me" territory
25+ - break out the AMR and Mini-Nukes
