Head Slap Suzzi...

I just did that quest where you find the dead ranger and carry his body to his freinds (not really a quest but a request from his sister). Anyway, imagine my shock when i found that the "z" key lifts his body up? I had no idea this had been included for PC users! Anyway, even if I'm the last to discover this, thanks Obsidian.

Hate to break it to you, but it was in Fallout 3 as well... Obsidian had nothing to do with it.

Haha! A bit unfortunate for you, oh well you have added replayability to your game, you can now drop things off cliffs =P

On the topic of that quest, anyone else think it was kinda funny how you take this floating corpse and throw it then they praise you.

EDIT: By the way the function is on all platforms and on Fallout 3/NV and Oblivion.

I'm pretty sure it goes back at least as far as Morrowind.

I knew about it from Oblivion but I think I may have tried it on an immovable object and thought, "Well, it's not in this game" and didn't try again. I should have kept checking. :)

I didn't know about it in FO3 or in Oblivion but I found out about it in FONV.

Oh lordy is it handy, it's so easy to steal things you can't reach from a squatting position, just move them to the floor and gank away!

In Fallout 3, they specifically point it out to you while you're in the baby pen room as part of the tutorial quest. Just look at one of the toys that can be carried. Most folks, I suspect, either rushed through that part or were so overwhelmed with all the new detail that they miss it.

It's also very handy for stealing things out from under people's noses. If you want something that is in plain view of the person who owns it, pick up the item with the move key and walk somewhere out of their sight, THEN steal it. People don't usually seem to mind you moving their stuff around, and if you steal it out of their line of sight, they don't come after you.

exactly. I believe this is the only method of obtaining a plasma caster before you are powerful enough to kill everyone inside the silver rush if you're going for "gang's all here" achievement.

I'd also add that it's VERY useful for taking a non-owned item like a lucky star cap that's sitting right on top of and next to other, marked as theft, items without risking a misclick that gets your head blown off or draws the ire of the entire NCR down on you.

In addition to its practical function, I find the ability to move stuff around to be a realistic feature, adding to the general feeling of the game.

The feature wasn't included in Morrowind, since Morrowind didn't have an engine that supported such physics as Havok does. This was a new thing in Oblivion, and boy was I stoked when I watched the gameplay trailer of Oblivion where he grabs the chains in the dungeon and flings them around >_> I was like, "Can this be done? The future is here!!"

It was my first Fallout and my only excuse is that Emma must have forgotten she could hold things in her hands by the age of 19. :D
