Faction discussion

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:21 pm

So after a bit of extensive research and a few game completions ive come to a solid conclusion; of my own of course...

The NCR are nothing more than organized thugs that banded together to form a "Democracy" or what can be left of one.

Caesar's Legion is, as stated, a bunch of Slavers, Slaves, and sixist bastards upholding laws and views that come from a time long passed.

And then there's Mr. House. RobCo was one of MANY founding companies of the Enclave, and was actually one of its HEAD founding companies. And? guess who's CEO and owner of RobCo? Mr. House.

----------
They're aren't any ''Good'' factions; only false portrayals painted out to the public - much like today's politics I guess. So this in mind im going to choose the independent path on my next playthrough. I was sick after seeing my other two endings in which I sided with the NCR and Mr.House. These are dark times in deed, there's no denying that.

I like that there is no true "good" faction. It's actually realistic...There is no way there would be enough good people after the war to create a whole faction. Good is boring IMO

What did you do that made the ending for House "sick?" Mine ended fairly well and I was glad I chose to work with him.

I think that all factions want "peace", they just have entirely different ways of trying to achieve it.

For example, Caesar's Legions seem to want to take over the whole of the Mojave and "swallow up" the resident tribes and incorporating them into the legion. Anyone that stands in the way of their goal is deemed an enemy i.e NCR. Once their goal has been reached, there would be no outside force to oppose them, leading to peace. However, as you say its as though they've been brainwashed with the ideologies from a society gone by.

NCR might have the right idea but they haven't executed it very well. Corruption is rife and bad events have occurred on their watch. On the plus side, they provide protection to Mojave residents from the Fiends and Caesar's Legion but don't do enough to protect anyone. From what I've seen they appear as very apathetic and scared of the Legion. Always saying they would easily win a battle but not actually going ahead with it due to a fear of casualties.

Finally, Mr House wants peace for the New Vegas strip and doesn't want to see it taken over by NCR or Legion. Therefore he does all he can to achieve his goal - much like Caesar's Legion.

It may seem from the outset that NCR are the "goodies" and Legion the "baddies" but as you delve deeper and find their motives it's not as obvious. It all really depends on your own morals and personal beliefs as to who you would side with.

I swear I thought I just posted on this thread... is there another similar one doing the rounds, or was my post deleted or something (if so someone please just PM me and let me know why, I don't think I said anything bad but if I was out of line the last thing I want to do is repeat my mistake, I try to keep to good manners online), either that or I have lost my marbles...

Edit: No ignore my rambling, there's a similar thread that I posted on...

Its not that bad, really, but I consider it the "funny" route and when ya play that route, ya would understand why. If ya wanna know the basic idea of self motivation, its the following:

Spoiler
Its basically anarchy.

Yup, I just did as he told me too and helped everyone I could fairly. Ended up turning into Nazi new vegas in my opinion.

Not necessarily, I have a feeling something satisfying and epic happens at the end of the solo career. I am doing it right now too. The only way to know whether it is bad or not is to play.

Seems pretty futile that the wasteland will fail under anarchy - Civil war would be inevitable. So, what is the ''Good ending'' ?

Its not totally anarchy, but comes really close. Think of it as House route but without him and its ya and another NPC coming into play.

Spoiler
The Yes Man. A very fun guy, in my opinion.

Indeed. The morality in this game is presented in many ways with both sides of the coin. I don't recall which classic philosopher it was that said something like: "There is no right or wrong, just shades of grey" (or something to that effect), but that is much what this game is about... helping at the expense of others wellfare without the distiction of good and evil.
