If I understand it correctly (others can correct me if I'm wrong) If the weapons damage is say 10 and your enemies damage threshold is 15 then no damage is getting through. So your weapon needs to do more damage. The condition of the weapon and type of ammo used adds and subtracts as well. So the higher damage the weapon has the better.(duh )

I bought some armor piercing rounds for my 10mm gun and for my varmint rifle long range night scope and sliencer ( they were cheap), Can't remember ammo, but I also used a cowboy repeater as well fully repaired.


Oh edit to add, go for the legs if possible. If you get a crit off they should be crippled.

were talking energy weapons and you come in here with gun talk.....your not helping.

damage is damage it doesn't matter, If its a energy weapon or not. If the weapon does not do enough damage to get through the enemy DT then the OP needs a weapon that does more damage.

DT is not only effected by guns but energy weapons as well so the comment about DT and damage being dealt is still relevant

Also, the discussion about ammunition is still important as well. Guns have armor piercing bullets and hollow point bullets that are useful against different types of enemies (ie you want armor piercing ammunition against an armored opponent and hollow point against non-armored enemies)

Energy weapons also have different types of ammunition not just guns. Therefore talking about different types of ammunition and there effect are still relevant as well.

Also, what type of ammunition are you using? Are you using Overcharged Energy Cells and such?

Perhaps we helped TC, hes not on the boards anymore. I just cant figure out how you get to level 23 with an energy weapons character and not have any good weapons?

I had the same issue.

The real reason is most energy weapons are kind of pants for getting through tough high-DR monsters, EW doesn't have a thermal lance or an AMR.

But we do have a gauss rifle. That's your go-to gun for the big nasties: deathclaws, supermutants, sentry bots, ect.

Also, gatling lasers are considered EWs now, the Damage/shot isn't great but you can sandblast most tough mobs down with one. Plasma caster is another good choice.

For the rough and tough stuff your laser rifle and even plasma rifle just won't cut it.
