Why lock my thread?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:49 am

So Freddo, why would you lock a thread just because it is popular and there are some really good conversations going on? Is it really because the "Lack of Dungeons" title was slightly negative about NV and your job is to make the forum look pretty? Like I said in the thread, I hate everyone's little forum rules, can't we just talk to each other and have fun? I don't think I'm going to visit this forum anymore. Goodbye.

If it was really popular it might have just reached it's limit. Chill out.

Moderator said "200 + posts, time to close this". Wouldn't take that so personal.

Most forum mods are generally nowhere to be found. Bethesda's mods are always around. Which is good and bad. Personally I didn't see a problem with your thread, didn't really see a problem with mine either and it got locked as well. OH and I got warned? ROFL. Some mods fail, some don't. Posting means you're at the mercy of mods, power corrupts. Always. Your locked thread is a good example. One person feels your thread is too long, and locks it. Doesn't matter that people are having friendly conversations. One person felt it was long, and thread done.

All threads are locked at 200 posts. If you want to continue the discussion, just make a second thread.

The post limit for a thread is 200. It's nothing personal. You're very welcome to make thread 2 of the topic, as far as I know.

So to reiterate, in this forums threads are closed when they reach 200 posts. Feel free to make a continuation thread. There is "Community Tech Thread no. 93" in community discussion, after all :D

Ninja'd, and the some

When a post count reaches 200, the thread is locked. Make a continuation thread if you want, and please read the rules next time.

It's in the Forum Guidelines that threads are locked at 200 for technical reasons. Good idea to become familiar with the rules so misunderstandings like this don't happen. :)

Power corrupts? lmao, lmao. When the mods come to work, that's all they do is moderate the forums according to the forum rules. Staying under the mod's radar means you're doing a good job too....not crossing the line. It's not easy when people are upset and/or complaining constantly because it affects everyone. Shake it off and move on. I like Dungeons, part 2 solves the problem and the great conversations continue. All the best. :)

I'm glad your misunderstanding about the previous thread was sorted out, but this thread is likely to get locked soon, as threads about locked threads are not allowed, nor are threads about moderator action.

Okay, let's recap:

7 replies informing OP that his aforementioned thread reached 200+ posts.

2 replies urging the OP not to take it personally.

6 replies suggesting the OP makes a continuation/sequel thread.

1 reply outlining the potential corruptness behind Bethesda forum mods.

Beating a dead horse, thread is complete. :lmao:

aight. What % of posters have read all the rules do you think? I bet even those of you encouraging me to read the rules, have not read the rules. I'm not making a continuation thread, but I'm slightly less angered at Freddo now.

This is a rule unknown to any civilized forum I've been to. Look at Paradox forums, there are threads there with 750 pages and noone complains about it.

It's well-known that fan(atics) on message boards over-anolyze everything. :D The above post has made this thread complete but I bet I'm not the last post. :D

I think the answer has been given on thread locking.

I also suggest the OP reads the rules, it's all explained in them, plus the rule about discussing moderator action on the open forums.
