Strip locking up : Fallout: New Vegas

Hi,

I've been there before with no trouble, but now whenever I try to enter the strip I'm just faced with a black screen after loading and music/sounds still playing. As far as I can tell my character is not moving or responding to buttons. This now happens every single time making it impossible to progress in this game.

I was told by a friend that something similar occurs to him, but you can wait it out for however long and it does recover as long as the music is still going. So my question is really, anyone else want to back this up or am I wasting my time?

Is this true of all the freeze ups ingame? I usually wait maybe 5-10 mins then sack it and pull the power. Currently left my game on the black vegas strip awaiting some results, will post back if something happens...

Are you on PC, PS3 or Xbox 360? Yes, the games do freeze up every now and then, and if nothing happens, just reset the game like I do, but save often.

Ah sorry platform is ps3. Thats the route I've been going down, problem is this happens every single time it doesn't seem to be a random occurrence.

Could maybe be a conditional thing such as the guests travelling with me? I'm hoping its not happening due to loading up the state I last left the strip in :brokencomputer:

Can anybody tell me if there is more than one way of entering the strip I'm using the north gate?

i had it when trying to enter the atomic wrangler. try putting on an old cowboy hat. (yeah i know it sounds weird but it was on the wiki and it worked for me!) you can buy one at crimson caravan. if that doesnt work either. try entering through the camp mccarran monorail!

edit: btw, let me know if it worked. could be that other people are having the same problems!

If you do choose to kill him however, even if you successfully get away with doing so, the entire game will malfunction and shutdown from that point on while trying to enter through the north gate. effectively disallowing any further progress in the game. Most of these complaints however have only seem to have accured on X-box formate.

Note: Will ALSO effect the PS3 version as well. As of date there is still no solution to this other than loading a previous game save where he is not killed. Easily fixed by buying an "Old cowboy hat" (which uses the same model) and wearing it upon reentry to the strip fixes the problem.

I am stuck in a room in Atomic Wrangler and can't get out, so there's no way for me to get the Cowboy hat. Should I just play from my last save? (becaus that svcks hard donkey)

yeah the same thing happened to me. it is really frustrating but i guess ill try the old cowboy hat trick then.
