WTH?!?!?!?!

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:13 am

Alright, so I finally get my hands on New Vegas. I start my character, venture to the cemetery after speaking with Victor and... Gets greeted by a Radscorpion and 2 Giant Radscorpions. WHAT THE [censored]? I'm only level 1, on Normal difficulty (with hardcoe though) and that's waiting for me at the first location I go to? Is this normal, a random encounter, or a bug?

That seems odd to me, I just had a bark scorpion. I imagine it's a glitch.

There should only be 1 bark scorpion between Goodsprings and the cemetery. The Rad scorpions should be behind the cemetery in that valley.

This is not FO3, there are things out there way stronger than you. If you run into these, you need to run away quickly then come back when you can kick some major ass. They use rad scorpion and deathclaw mobs to keep you out of areas your not yet suited for.

I know there are gaint scorpions north of the cemetery but i have only seen bloatflys in the cemetery and a bark scorpion on the path to get there, don't know why the gaints would move up the hill and into the cemetery and at level 1 i don't think theres much you can do about it since even if you manage to get the scorpions to follow you to town they would just kill everyone there.

Victor told me about that place, so I thought it was suitable to look. Really, I believe it's one of the closest places to the starting area. I don't think I need to stay away from there.

Also, thanks to my [censored] PC (my new one should be arriving in a few days), when I saw them it was too late.

The cemetery is fine, minus your bug. Anything north of there is a no go area early on. There should only be 1 bark scorpion just before, and 4 bloatflies at the cemetery.

If you see rad scorpions it's a bug. Sounds like http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1138276-death-claw-horror/page__pid__16644808__st__0&#entry16644808 with things being where they shouldn't.

I have wandered out of the cemetary in the wrong direction and caught the attention of a Giant Radscorpion. Raw deal, but it was my fault for wandering in the wrong direction.

Sometimes, there are places you really shouldn't go unless you are buff enough to survive Hell.

You went too far north of the cemetery.
Spoiler
That area is full of radscorpions, and worse

That happened to me when I was killing the bloatflys and they flew away down the hill. Well they came back with some friends who wiped out Goodsprings.

It seems like I first started playing months ago but it's not 3 weeks yet. I remember the game was very hard in the beginning and I'm on Normal. It gets better. Good luck.

I had one attach me just before getting to the cemetery as well. I just ran off and did other things. I don't know if it was a bug or what but for other reasons I started another character and it never happened with my new character. Only one bark scorpion on the way to Good Springs. So yeah, I think it was a glitch or bug. One thing is for sure, I could not get near that cemetery with that first character.

There can be radscorpions and even giant radscorpians between the cemetary and the memorial. I've been attacked by giants while stepping out of the airliner shack near the memorial.

If you see them, run.

for deathclaws, it's better to stand on a high and unreachable ground and snipe it, you have no chance hand to hand cause they ignore DT, have 100 dmg and only gives 50EXP...

of course you can always ignore them.

It's random.. they might have been chasing something and just happened to be there when you got there. Save often and save alot.. For one, your going to die a lot more than you did in F3. Two.. You might stumble upon a bug that wrecks your game. Save, save, save, save, save.

thats weird. you guys are mentioning bloat flies in the cemetary, but i never encountered any IN the cemetary. the giant radscorps i found north of the cemetary when i ventured too far. this was all on my first playthrough. but no bloatflies, or bark scorps...weird.

Recompile all scripts! of course you cannot do that on a console...

They only seem to be in the cemetery if you have decided to due the tutorial (for me at least.)

The gulch just down the hill is a damn scorpion nest, so it's possible you attracted some unwanted attention from down there. First time through I was a bit noisy in that cemetary and had three bark scorps and a giant trying to tear my intestines out and decorate their christmas trees with them.

I had a giant rad pick up on me while traveling back from the goodsprings source. After several death/reloads I was able to lead him to a few settlers and using the fences for protection we were able to take it down.
