Silver Rush Hostility

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:18 am

I did a search on Silver Rush and didn't see anything with this sort of discussion, so sorry if it was repeated.

I was pretty foolish as I was just looking around Freeside, and when I got to SR I walk right in, attempt to talk to the guards on the right, and not figuring anything would happen, walk past them. Of course they become hostile, and it took a few attempts (as well as turning off hardcoe due to dehydration from stupid autosaves, no water, and lack of a hard save prior to my sleeping away 3 days) just to get out. I've spent time, at least a few days, out of Freeside now, but I've still got the guy outside Silver Rush getting ticked off at me and firing away. The usual FO3 methods of resetting hostility didn't seem to work. Any ideas?

I had this happened and was really confused at first, but all you have to do is walk up to the chain linked fence and watch a "skit" where the people in the store lazar someone, then the guards will move and let you pass.

Does this require that I make it back around the guy who's firing at me? Doesn't seem like that would work out given the hostility... Is it inside the building? Because everyone was chasing after me when I was inside SR, firing at me, and I barely made it to the Freeside exit before dying.

Good luck. I did the same thing, had to kill them all. At least there was a pretty decent stash of weapons and gear in there to cover the expense of the 20+ stims I went through doing it.

I did it so early on that I'm having a heck of a time taking one guy out, much less 3... Guess I'll be avoiding Freeside (minus the Vegas entrance) for a good while.

Well, I picked up a companion and got the one thug outside of SR killed, so at least I can walk in that direction. However, they're still hostile inside, and waiting at this point for 3 days or so doesn't seem to help.

Same thing happened to me. I went in, walked past some guards who didn't say a word about now walking past them, and the fighting began.
I usally save a lot but this time I spent about a hour or two without saving. So i decided to continue playing with Silver Rush hostile to me.
Guess I'll have to do a second playthrough starting at an earlier save.

As soon as I found out that...

Spoiler

... the Van Graph (sp?) that runs the Silver Rush wanted to take out the Gun Runners (who I very much like), I lost all love for them.

And besides, later the Brotherhood of Steel will ask you to kill everyone in the Silver Rush as a requirement for one of the quests (if you befriend them).

Damn hard to kill though if your not good with Energy Weapons!

Once you piss them off they will stay hostile I believe. My advice? Pick up Cass as a companion, do her side quest, then you'll have a reason to waylay their asses. If you're having to much trouble with them you may not be high enough level to pull it off yet. I did it last night but I just picked up Cass at level 21 so her stats and HP were maxed. Together we made short work of them. AP rounds are your friend.

or shotguns (which are good against high DT). ;^)

I had a reason to go kick Silver Rush in the nads--Cassidy was out for blood! So we did hit 'em hard.

The guards become hostile if you try and pass them while the Van Graff woman is talking to that guy. Just reload and wait for the conversation to end.

It took me like 4 reloads to realize there was a skit thing going on through the fence. Even with my volume turned up I barely recognized their talking as part of a continuous dialogue and not just their usual "Hey" and "What's up". I only realized that there was a skit going on during the 4th reload when I thought that maybe there was a door or stairway near the fence I was supposed to go through, and I'm just running into it when I realize there's a guy tied up on his knees. They really should have made that whole scene more noticeable.

How long does the conversation last, or does one have to do something to initiate the skit? I've been staring through the fence for 15 min. and nothings happening. Reloaded a few times and tried, but nobody speaks or moves.

When you walk in the guards tell you to wait.... Or they should anyway.

Honestly. they're more use to you dead anyway...

Nope, just stand there. I reloaded a VERY old save and went in and the script played out. Great, another bug to se me back 6 levels and countless hours. Txs for the help though.

It's not a bug, when you go inside for the first time they tell you to stand back until Ms. Van Graff can finish her deal. If you walk past them they go hostile on you 'cause they're protecting her.

Anyone know if you can save the guy from getting killed? I didn't try. Too risky at a low level.

Mine is definitely a bug. Ms. Van Graff isn't talking, or gesturing. The guards are also moot. No matter how long you wait, nothing happens. I've seen how it's supposed to play out, did it on an WAY OLD save where I never tried to go past the guards, but wish I could get my newest save to do it. I create a new save for every level I gain, but didn't notice that I should be able to enter until now.

And to Ewoklord, I doubt you can save him, its a scripted event. Since I can't get in peacefully I tried charging in with Cass and Rex, but didn't see what happened to him. My crew died. Badly.

I was referring to the fact that they go hostile if you go past them. Didn't mean to imply whatever issue you later experienced wasn't a real bug, I apologize, I don't know what it is you are seeing on your part.
