Companion Boone Armor

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:17 am

I have outfitted Boone with the heavy Metal Armor and Helmet, taken from a Viper gang-banger. Then, "repaired" it with purchases from the Gun Runners.
Does this actually raise his damage threshold, over the Merc Grunt outfit?

Yep. I gave my companions power armor and noticed they took longer to kill.

Here's a test you can do if you're not in hardcoe mode (so they don't die permanently): Shoot your companions until they go unconscious. Compare how many times you had to shoot them with armor and without armor for them to go down.

If the armor has a higher DT then it will offer more protection. Of course the condition of the amor affects the DT Rating.

However, you don't have to make this decision, the Companion will wear whatever armor in their inventory that offers the most protection.

OK thanks. Good to know the comps will auto-switch armament.
That's why I have maintained and repaired the armor. He looks uncomfortable, but I wanted to gear him up for the big one.
Now, if you could help me with my other post...

I gave him fully-repaired NCR mantle armor because it makes him look like an assasin. Too bad the game decided to kill him for no reason and ruin my file with this event everytime I load...

Its better for Boone to use his default head item, the 1st Recon Beret. The +1 per and +5 crit. is really good for snipers.

Thanks for the tip. The armor works well going up against Cazadors and run-and-gun fire-fights, where the luxury sniping is not a viable option.

Power Armor or Combat Armor MKII is the best compliment to Boone.

I took the Viper Gang Leader's combart armor and upgraded it to Reinforced MK 2 (med wgt). I put Boone in Metal Armor/Helmet Reinforced (heavy), as he is very gung-ho and just charges into conflict.
They need a "halt" button... little ED-E jumped in Lake Mead going after a Lakelurk. I put it in video on my Youtube channel.

Pretty early on in the game as far as quests go, but I did upgrade Boone from NCR Armor to a lighter Reinforced Leather. Works for now.

I think the NCR Veteran Ranger combat armor fits him perfectly. He'd probably be of them if he was still with the NCR.

Kinda redundant, dontcha think? Considering he's already a killing machine?

Anyway, in my game, Boone's wearing the Recon Armor. Doesn't look cool, but I need to find some non-factional armor for him. Refused to wear BoS power armor, though, it was before my own training in power armor. Perhaps that has something to do with it?
