Speech has been the most beneficial thing to me as well as guns. I do not see how I could have gotten this far without speech, science luckily there are usually obstacles and most are for gimics/quickness. Got most of my skills to 100, and main level 31.

Sorry I am not tracking. If you are saying that since you do not have any of the skills higher the 50 you are right it svcks. I am trying to balance five of them out but I do not think it will work and speech and barter are at the bottom. That means most quest can not be finished. Got to find more book or magazines to read. :)

If I would have know Boone & ED-E were in the game an are psychos that destroy everything I would have not invested so much into combat skills ^_^

that doesn't excuse your screwed up character build, however :)
developing one or two combat skills is more than enough(thus leaving you ample points to put in elsewhere), and complaining about not being able passing late game speech checks when it was your decision to ignore this skill seems a bit off.
you've chosen to rely on force as the only problem solving method, now it's time to live with the consequences :D
though, i'll never understand how anyone could ignore communication skills in a game that has so much dialogue

All worth the effort, I concentrate on small guns, speech and sneak, secondary are lockpick and survival, but speech has turned out to be one of the most powerful attributes in this game, take on several bad tempered nightkins or talk your way out of it, talking saves a lot of ammo.

I'll never understand how people can get high and mighty about how someone else decides to play their video game.

I find one access skill, either lock-pick or science to be a mandatory for pretty much any role-play I could think of. Kind of like repair, a prerequisite of sorts. A good blueprint that can serve a lot or different role-plays, regardless of intelligence, would be; one maxed weapon skill, a maxed access skill, repair, a passive skill and either a secondary weapon or another passive skill. I find this most suitable since there's no reason for 3 or more weapon proficiencies unless your role-playing that sort and no reason to take lock-pick and science either. I find barter still pretty useless since the perks are "meh" and speech checks are more efficient. Note that unless your going for certain weapons, there's no need to raise lock-pick or science past 75 or even lower provided you have the attire/chems to boost with.

Well I'm at Lv16 so I guess I'll need to come back much later on to wrap those subs up

For now get my speech/lock pick up from 25 to 50 and other social type skills
