Possible to beat the game without firing a bullet?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:19 am

Would this be possible? I cannot think of anything in the main quest where you are required to kill something, and if you are your companion will sure be able to help. Sure it will be boring in a way but i'm thinking of trying it out.

Edit: Sorry, had not made it clear. When I meant without firing a bullet I meant never pressing the right bumper....ever. So no melee, explosives, and unarmed. Would change the topic caption but I am unsure how.

90 % of my game NV, i use Melee weapon. I set the melee skills all time high. and i set energy weapon all time low. it is possible.

only the deathclaw, and that yellow wing. i use gun.

oh ok, how do you deal with Death Claw ? RUN ?

I think he means not kill anything, not just don't use guns... It should be possible... maybe... but you would be pretty locked in your choices at the end. Btw, I would be more interested in playing without killing at all. Companion or no companion, killing is killing.

I think he was referring to not use violence rather than firing actual bullets. Clearly, Melee or Energy build of fighting would fulfill that otherwise.

Yes, it is possible to beat the game without "fighting" don't even need your companions to do the dirty work. just need high speech and possibly high sneak.

Never said it was easy to do. I am looking forward to doing this game peacefully. I am not sure if bugs are something I need to be peaceful towards or not, but that is my own philosophical axe to grind, as it were.

However I have noticed that almost every quest could be done without killing anything, though some of the vaults would be a real challenge this way. The ones where you almost have to kill someone can be avoided by doing other quests a certain way.

If you don't mind having a good killing companion, to take care of aggressive beasties in the wasteland and caves and what-not, it's certainly doable. If you don't want even that... well, that's going to be a trick. Animal Friend + lots of Stealth Boys, I guess?

Especially easy if you're using companions. Hard if you're not, but I suspect its possible.
Spoiler
Not sure how you can handle the Benny situation. You can avoid killing him, but doesn't he send people after you? You'll have to kill them, I think. Maybe you can do it NCR route. Avoid Benny entirely.

Spoiler
You'd also have to avoid pissing off Caesar, for that matter. I don't know if the Legion will vilify you (and therefore send assassins) just for helping out in other questlines, though... but if they do, that would be majorly problematic.

Not really.
Spoiler
If they send assassins, as long as you stick to populated areas, other people can take care of them. Not many major quests send you to the boonies.

It is impossible to do without a companion doing the required killing for you.

You can beat the MQ without killing anything or having a companion with you. Speech and Sneak all the way.

I don't know. When I was beating the heck out of deathclaws one of those assassin teams came after me. A lot of the claws turned and started wiping out the assassins. I imagine with a good sneak and only coming out at night that you could trail assassin teams into the local fauna. I snuck over to the Gun Runners with a level four or five character by going North from GoodSprings... so it -is- possible. Watch out for the Nightkin, though. They like to pop up in front of you and start swinging. ED-E is great for avoiding those particular munchkins, though.
