My opinion on FNV

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:07 am

Not saying I hate FNV just a little disappointed
Its the Mojave wasteland as in the Mojave desert not the Mojave Mountains Obsidian.
When I bought this game I was think that there would be huge dried lakes with a few hill and mountains towards the north. Not 2 small dried lakes and a lot of big boring rocks.
I thought that Vegas would be a much bigger strip with gangsters selling Jet and Psycho on the street. Like Two rival gangs fighting over which is better Guns or Energy and every once in a while they break out into a little fight The Lasers firing RCW's at the rival gangs casino. I though that there would be a lot more people running around on the strip going to the drive-in theater or A bar to get a nice shot of whiskey and some of the guys would start fights randomly because of how drunk they are.
I thought Freeside would be a little Marketplace where crime was frequent a few people pickpocketing others and If you werent care they would pickpocket you. I thought that there would be a massive bank that had security issues.
I thought that Fiends would be running all along the main roads robbing caravans which as a repeatable job you could protect from point A to point B.
Does anyone else feel as I do post what you thought FNV would be and please don't insult Obsidian on this topic you should be thankful for the awesome game they gave us.

I have to agree, while nothing but flat barren sands would be boring, thats what the real outer Vegas is, not a few small dry lake beds scattered around.

lol..exactly... you "thought". so...what...obsidian has a telepathic machine that intercepts your brain waves and makes the perfect game to your exact specifications now? and i mean that in the least mean way possible. just saying.

Not bad ideas either. Some of that stuff sounds like it would've been fun. I think there were plenty of bad decisions in the development in this game. I'm currently still trying to get over the fact that although the NCR Ranger Combat Armor was paraded all over the trailers and is even on the box art; it's so ridiculously hard to obtain in game. It should've been a quest reward. And then the helmet can't be repaired without the Jury Rigging perk. It's just like...why?

for the most part i am happy with how it turned out-

wouldn't have minded if they used the unused space of the western and eastern mountains as usable desert space instead of blocking it with invisible walls-

i was hoping for a more real sense of the insane heat everyone has to live in there..

i've visited vegas several times and have a friend who lives near lake mead, and it can get upwards of 110 every day for months there..

maybe more mirages, and the fumes coming off the hot tar and concrete..

i know, i know, patroling the mojave really makes you wish for a nuclear winter... :)

but that is about the only real acknowledgement of the heat-

I was hoping hardcoe mode included a thing that the longer you were out in the heat, your dehydration would accumulate faster and even give endurance/vitality stat decreases if you were outside in full sun..

i like how they try to make it seem all epic and important everytime you come across the slightest little shack with 2 pieces of scrap metal in it
