New Vegas Packaging svckered Me

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:08 pm

Don't get me wrong... was a huge fan of FO3 and just love New Vegas.

I remember vividly looking at the back of the PS3 packaging for the game, and saying
"Whoah, there's giant DINOSAURS roaming the countryside? T-Rexes? This is awesome"

So the first few days I start playing.. and begin thinking, "Where the heck are the dinosaurs?"

Gekkos # Dinos, sorry.

Finally figured out what happened as you can all guess when I stumbled onto Dinky @ Novac.

Yes, I got svckered. But I forgive you!

BTW, as much as I love the deathclaws from FO3, why couldnt they have created some more
incredible monsters this time around? I really would have loved a TREX roaming around... or
even a giant zombie or just something giant and menacing...

*Gets up from chair in the Ninth Circle, Underworld.*
Charon: "Where're you goin'?"
Me: " Someone in Nevada needs a giant monster, I won't be coming back...or maybe I will, who knows?"
*Sets of across country*

This is a joke, right?

You know that it was confirmed long ago that the giant T-Rex was Dinky the Dinosaur and nothing else. I really don't think giant dinosaurs would really fit the world of Fallout, seeing as most creatures are just mutated animals that were still ALIVE at the time.

Also, things don't need to be giant to be menacing. Just wait until you meet a swarm of cazadores. They float like a bloatfly and sting like a deathclaw, and they're fast as all hell too.

HAHA. This topic is hilarious. I remember about three weeks before the launch, I was checking out the photos on the Bethesda website and saw the picture of the sniper in the mouth of the TRex. I was so excited to find it in the game. Then I got there, and was totally stoked when I discovered I could buy the Dinky TRex. I decorate my Presidential Suite with like 25 of them. They match any decor/colour.

Confirmed by who? I don't bother to read gossip before games are launched, sorry.

While I agree that T-Rex's don't have a place in the desert, you have to admit it would be cool
if Dinky was actually a live, roaming monster.

I would spend hours on FO3 sneaking around the areas where the Super Mutant Behemoth was
and enjoy throwing the occasional grenade at him to tick him off.. then run away while hearing
his loud footsteps behind me. Call me crazy...

Given that dinosaurs died out roughly 60 million years ago, it would have ruined immersion for me completely had I come across a live T-rex roaming the Mojave wasteland. Mutated scorpions and similar are somewhat believable and fine by me, and I don't need to come across anything tougher than the momma deathclaw...

Lol as much fun as it may be to hunt dinosaurs, could you imagine the outrage? IT'S NOT CANON!!!!11!! :brokencomputer:
On a more serious note, the cazadores are much more menacing (as previous poster stated) - as far as I'm aware (through the wonder of films) I could just stand really still and the T-Rex would forget I'm there...

I'm having a hard time with the realization that someone thought Dinky was a read dinosaur. I mean, the first pictures I saw of it, I could clearly see the sign he was holding and the fencing around him. Unless he was a very well trained dinosaur, I don't see him staying in that fence and holding that sign. LOL. Sorry, not trying to make fun of the OP though.

Deathclaws are not from Fallout 3. Neither are the Enclave, radscorpions, ghouls, supermutants, robots, and whatever I'm forgetting. They are in Fallout 3. <_<

Just addressing the criticism that they didn't add too many new creatures to NV. Most of the creatures and enemies in FO3 were also not new.

You have to understand, I was buying the game no matter what. I had 2 seconds to glance at the cover before the guy behind the counter bagged it, and I was too intent on playing it to even give the back cover a second glance. So for those 2 seconds, I thought "Dinosaurs. Awesome." and never looked again.

I find it funny some of you guys are talking about whats realistic or not given we have deathclaws and ghouls roaming around.. I guess you can rationalize radiation caused it, but cmon...

I see your point but for nearly a year I've been reading about this game and looking for any snippet of information. I knew the general story line before I ever touched the game. Anyway, it's good you were dedicated enough to the game to get it without even reading up on it.

What was even up with that idea? I understand having giant ants, I assumed over the years of radiation ants would evolve to become much bigger, but Super Mutant Behemoths? Granted Super mutants are bigger than humans but still, whoever thought of this was really betting that people didn't question the idea of a literal giant that goes "Me smash!"

Especially since supermutants are STERILE, so thusly even if supermutants got bigger with each genetic generation this would fail since they are sterile.

But back onto the dinosaur: You would have to be REALLY living under a rock to at least NOT have seen the trailer for this game to know that the dinosaur was decoration and furthermore had to be out of your MIND thinking there would be some form of dinosaurs in this game. I just got my friend to give me his case of FO:NV since I pre-ordered mine on Steam (<3) so I could take a quick glance and sure enough my mind didn't want to register the thought of dinosaurs in Fallout in general.

Okay.........
I kind of got svckered by that aswell, except i thought there was going to be an awesome sniper mission up there, defending the twon. I'm pretty sure i heard about that, and yet i don't think there is one, which would have been cool.

NOTE: I know about boone's mission, and about manny vargas....
