If you'd like some info on the mechanics:
You have a hidden stat called "critchance". This is the percentile chance that any given hit will be a critical hit. Critchance is initially the same as your Luck stat: 6 Luck = 6 critchance = 6% chance of any hit being a critical hit. Finesse adds 5 to your critchance, but doesnt give you the other benefits of having a high Luck. There is a certain notorious piece of headgear that can add another 5, for a maximum critchance of 20%. Your final in-game chance of scoring a critical hit is then affected by a weapon's "crit multiplier" which for the most part ranges from 1.0 to 2.5 (generally, energy weapons and unique weapons have a higher crit multiplier), which is in turn divided by the weapon's rate of fire if it's automatic (for automatics, it's basically your total chance of scoring a critical in one second of firing)
