Iron Belly

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:58 pm

Hello all,

made an albino cannibal (Str 10 End 9). Trying to decide if Iron Belly is worth taking. He's only 6th and really hasn't come across much rads, and it seems that the rads go away with time. I'm sure it went from 16 to 8. Is it a wasted perk...other than from a stylistic perspective? Gave him toughness at 6th instead. I read the Karma thread, and for those having a hard time being evil, take Cannibal. Eat those fiends to counter the good Karma!

Nah - rads are easy to get rid of. Just keep some Rad-Away handy, or go visit a doctor.

Rads don't go down naturally.

I used this perk once in Fallout 3 with a rad resistance-themed character and I didn't find it terribly useful - and FO3 is covered in irradiated water sources. FONV has several sources of free clean water (especially later in the game if you've gotten access to safe houses) so unless you're eschewing fast travel I don't think it's terrible advantageous perk.

When combined with the free food of cannibal I can see the convenience of being able to drink from any water source and if it fits your theme it may be worthwhile.

Thank you for the replies. I will see how things go. Currently he gets 2 rads when he devours someone. If it gets out of hand I'll take Iron Belly or Rad Child. Maybe he will turn into a ghoul with Rad Child, but I doubt it.

Adamantium Limbs is a far better perk (almost a gamebreaker considering how many fewer Doc Bags you need) assuming you are playing on hardcoe mode.

Not playing hardcoe yet. I will do one playthrough first. I'll look at the perk. I'm trying to make a Leather Face or Michael Meyers. Leatherface Meyers.

IMHO Iron Belly gets useful once you install mods that increase Radiation, e.g. like FWE did for FO3.

In vanilla I would consider it useless.
