Doc Mitchell gives you a vault suit that was his wife's before you even leave his house... At the beginning of the game. It's pretty clear that he's from a vault even early on. Perhaps some people should pay more attention?

i was thinking doc must of hurt his leg on his way to goodsprings but im not really sure what happend any ideas

Almost reaching Goodsprings unscathed through countless miles of hostile territory, he was approached by a Molerat and preceded to kick it so hard he hurt his foot while breaking the Molerat's leg. he was able to make his escape, Snuffles on the other hand wasn't to impressed about it all.
Still, it never stopped him be a friendly little soul.

Why I could even picture Doc Mitchell as being actually a space alien. He killed the real Doc Mitchell and now wears his skin as a suit. No human doctor could be that good.
