DLC Already? eh...

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:17 am

Anyone else a bit miffed about the DLC?

Clearly obsidian was working on the DLC before the game was even released... it sounds like a side quest rather than a whole DLC... and it doesn't even sound interesting or "Fallout-ish"

I'd rather them properly patch the main game and more importantly add polish before doing DLCs.

It's also obviously being rushed so no doubt the DLC will be buggy and unpolished.

Companies almost always have a seperate team start working on DLC before the game is released. There's only so much you can do that doesn't involve starting a new project with the rest of the studio after content gets locked down.

It's not as if the same people work on the testing and bugfixing as on designing new content. The QA people and programmers can focus on bugs while the writers and designers work on the DLC.

Well they're not going to make graphics artists and programmers do testing... testing is an entry level job. That's like asking a tenured accountant to be a janitor.

The point is regardless of how they use their personell the DLC is being rushed and obviously has priority over fixing problems.

Agree , they need to polish the game before releasing a DLC.
Just put a special team just patching bugs i mean the game has been out for a month and they haven′t been showing much ambition to patch the game.

As others have said, the writers, quest designers,... probably started working on the DLC the moment the game was finished. No doubt a wholly different team is working on the bugs.

Yeah, I'm sure the writers and designers should get right on fixing engine issues way out of their league. As opposed to writing and designing new content.

well its still a nother month and they will prob patch the game up as they do the dlc as there is a different team but the samd lead devs so dont worry about it not being patched at the same time.

Yeah, but they've only been fully working on the DLC for what? like a month or two by now. Considering that they probably stopped adding content to NV like 2 months ago or so? I don't know. DLC is being rushed.

It's mainly just the way they've handled it, the DLC announcement after a month of release without mentioning any plans for a major patch seems a bit flighty to me.

So the quest designers, writers and artists should just sit around doing nothing while they wait for QA testers and programmers to fix the bugs?

A major patch being in the works was announced recently.

they didn't make it already, they just announced it, and there are plenty of other games that do that way worse, ever gotten AC2, they released the game and the DLC on the same day, ubisoft is really in it for the money
