Iron Man Playthrough..

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:46 pm

I will plan on trying to play through the game on an Iron Man run.

For those that do not know what this is, It's playing an entire game where if you die..

You must start over. (Or for some, It's playing without saving anything and only having an auto-save.)

So, Any good suggestions on how to go about with this?
No builds just like, Stealth, HtH, Or things like that.

I can tell already i'm going to be driven mad..

You don't need to be overly paranoid. Just pick your battles and advance slowly. I haven't died in ages in this game and I run in Reinforced Leather into Deathclaw nests...

I only die when I fall off a cliff that seemed to be only 4 feet, but it turns into 28 murdering me.
Guess I can't really tell what is what.

Avoid Deathclaws!!!!! and just auto saves? thats cheating cause every time you rest or enter a building it saves or sleep. anyways I'd pick up a lot of ammo and get a good automatic weapon and shoot till everything around is dead!

Some advice I can give. Be aware of ya surrounding. Be cautious if planning an attack. Don't be afraid of using up ya stimpacks if ya have to. Two Toughness Perk give ya a permanent Threshold of +6. Talk ya way out of things to avoid battle if ya can. Keep a couple of Stealth Boy to avoid battle or to get out. Do not be afraid of camping and picking off ya foe if ya going sniper.

I would recommend focusing on guns, unarmed, stealth, and medicine. Are you playing hardcoe? If so, you might want to balance out medicine and survival. The higher survival you have, the less food and water you'll need.

I'm currently playing a game where I have imposed a no Fast Travel rule on myself. It's great. I recommend that just for the immersion factor.

Good luck staying sane. It seems like I am constantly being ambused by wild life.

But good advice you all, I may take screenshots and post it here lol.

I don't know if your wishing to follow the MQ entirely or take shortcuts but I managed this while running the game in HC mode to the end, where I inevitably died due to my lack of combat SP but I prevailed, with a maxed speech.

I would say grab a companion, and if your cautious of dying you may wish a high PER or get ED-E as soon as possible so you are aware of foes.

Other than that, good luck, look forward to hear your progress for a real-FO attempt.

You can bypass the last battle with speech?

And I'm probably going to do SOME side-quests and skip Come fly with me. (I just hate that quest.)

I was taking the ironman part of the topic a little too seriously ( the Super hero)

But unarmed is probably the best skill in the game aside from melee, Unarmed crit build is the most overpowered build ive played so far.

Built to destroy high luck, str, and endurance ( you willl need to use 3 perks of intense training and implants to get a really high special all round)

Finesse, better crits, ninja, slayer, piercing strike, super slam, Unstoppable force...etc. keep in mind it's very easy to get all the unarmed power attacks ( Khan, Scribe, Legion, Ranger)

Sorry I did not explain that clearly, I got killed in combat while in the Legion Camp after taking over Hoover Dam. I basically let Yes Man and the Securitrons do all the work up to the Camp and then looted all the bodies for AM rifle for the few guards in the camp and passed the Legate with a few speech checks.

I know how you feel about Come Fly With Me, I have grown against that quest the more I play the game again.

I don't mean Iron Man literally, I don't even know why they call it that, But i love unarmed.

Power moves are ridiculously easy to get..
Only one I did'nt get was Legion Assault..

Because I killed that guy dead.
