The thing is that most melee weapons are all-or-nothing propositions. Some firearms have mods that make them lighter... by replacing a *part* of the firearm. They are complex machines with many parts. A knife... How are you going to make it lighter, except by making it out of titanium or something, which is not a "mod" but rather an entirely different tool. So. It's hard to make mods for most melee weapons because you're not changing parts, you're either replacing the entire thing with something similar, or you're machining and carving on the thing.
But. Some suggestions that would make sense:
Fiberglass handle: For fire axe, hatchet, and sledgehammer. Reduces weight, and increases durability.
Barbed wire: For baseball bat. Increases damage.
Lead washer: For knives and combat knives. Slightly reduces damage, but substantially increases speed.
