Where the bugs are

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:11 pm

i've seen a huge amount of threads complaining about bugs and unplayable games. i must of got a magical copy because the only issues i've come across are the odd scorpion or coyote spawned 8 inches under the sand, the usual terrain pieces being not quite lowered into the sand in a few places, and a few crashes, and to be honest i'd put the crashes down to hardware issues on my end. i can't comment on companions as i didn't bother with them but i've beat the game and explored to the point i need to play something different and these bugs are a mystery to me. so, the point of the poll. if you had a bug that has motivated you to say something about it, which platform did you find it on? i'm on a pc.

sorry if this has been done before, please post a link, as i'm interested to see the results

I've had a couple of bugs that mean i can't finish quests, such as the veronica companion quest, or the novac brahmin quest, but im not too worried, i'll just wait for the patch and go back to them.
I'm on Xbox,
my game isn't too bad though, and alot of people seem to have it much much much worse then i.

On my XBOX, the most common glitch/bug is clipping... This affects everyone in the game it seems, as Geckos, BOS soldiers, NCR troopers, my own companions and my own characters all sink occassionally into the terrain.

Xbox but if I had a PC that could run it I would have gotten it for the PC aswell.

And the bugs I have are the occasional crash but they're hours apart.
Some clipping.
Some animation spazzings.
And loading screens can take really long to finish.

My PC version seems fairly clean - well, aside the horrible pipboy interface/inventory system. :P

Mine's odd. I'm on PC and have had a fair ammount of CTDs, but It'll run beautiful for days at a time, and then, boom, in one day it'll CTD every 10 min. Haven't had any corrupted saves since patch, and most script bugs have stayed away. Only the Ranger Andy one is consistent.

PS3. My chosen path was halted on Oh My Papa because I had used up a speech option way early on before I got the quest. It won't come back. We're supposed to speak with everyone in these games because it could lead to something but it made me afraid to do that. I'm waiting for the patch and hope this is fixed.

There have been a few minor problems for me on the 360 but most havn't caused much of a problem. (clipping, missing gear, things like that) The main problem comes from the DLC bugs. The first one is where you try to modify the weathered pistol that comes with the DLC pack, and the second one is where they saves won't load because it says the DLC is missing even when it is not. I've had 2 seperate playthroughs ruined by the save bug and have yet to complete this game.

The worst of the bugs i had was the vast performance hit you get when you have 4 CPU cores... i had to manually fix that by editing the ini files to tell the game to only use 2 cores...... But by the time i worked that out i was so fed up with the game i dont really play it much anymore.... :(

There are bug report topics in the Hardware and Software forums, we don't need a general discussion here. If anyone is experiencing problems - yes I am aware some are - then please post in the relevant forum as it helps the devs to check them out.
