What is the Divide?

Several characters in New Vegas talk about a place called the Divide. ANyone know what that is?

I believe it is the Grand Canyon. Not exactly sure.

Continental Divide, or Sierra mountain range. Both would be imposing barriers for East<>West travel.

Hmm The vault dweller founded Arroyo in a pretty dangerous place then. (Unless the "great canyons he mentions aren't the grand canyons.)

Arroyo was in Oregon/Northern California.
