Naming Saves?

Is there a way to name saves? If not, there really should be.

I always find it annoying when a game won't let me name my saves. Supplying a default name is fine, but only if I can replace it if I choose to.

If you're on the PC, open console, type "savegame foo" where foo is the name you want for your savegame. Keep it short.

If you're on a console, no.

Nope, can't name your saves, just like Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Just

save "Name_here_using_a _ instead_of_spaces_or_it_wont_work_and_no_quotes_either"

works. No need for savegame.

Just know naming saves breaks steam achievements.

The game needsseveral PC standard features it doesn't have. Like bringing up the map or inventory directly instead of going into Pipboy and navigating to the section you want. But it seems we're stuck with the shortcomings of Fallout 3.

I personally don't use the F1, F2, F3 keys and am too lazy to remap them whatsoever...

Thanks for the console tip, I assume the same works for FO3 and Oblivion too? I save frequently (long time RPG player!) and like to keep some saves made before I make important decisions in games and it's a real pain when they are not named.

And god forbid if my husband wants to try the game too when I'm away from the PC, it's more difficult than it ought to be to see which saves belong to which game. This "feature" of modern games annoys me no end.

How about an actual "Scroll Bar" that you can get your mouse on ? Instead we have a scroll line that's almost impossible to grab

"Modernization." There's not one "missing feature" mentioned here so far that didn't exist in previous Bethesda titles (I know, Obsidian- but with regard to the features under discussion New Vegas and Fallout 3 are identical so :meh: ) then suddenly vanish around Oblivion. Or...around the time they began developing with consoles in mind, as the case may be.

Actualy I realy like the saves on the pc as it includes the name of the character in the save and the time played on that character and where they are as well as the save number im at.. this actualy makes it very easy to manage saves on the pc just by grabbing blocks of em and deleting or moving them.

The information is nice, but I like to add my own descriptions to them, like "starting XYZ Quest" or "Finished XYZ Quest" I can't always tell by the screenshot or information provided just which save I want to go back to.

Yup. From a technical standpoint they are extremely closely related.

Anyone ever try just RE-NAMING the saves afterward, in Windows explorer ??

I believe that this will work - but I can not say for sure

Alternate method : keep a written list of save # vs status

More work than is actually needed, but it does work should someone care to go that route.
