So how hard is Fallout NV?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:28 pm

After playing through the game at both hardcoe and the hardest difficult level using a dirty pre-war park stroller outfit from the start to the end I must say "Really?" A mere two times I even felt the slightest challange. First beeing the nightkins in the basemant (until I realised the spastic effect of the smg) and the fight at the legate camp (and this due to the fact that I actaully forgot to bring ammo). Other then that I found it to be a true walk in the park; pun intended! I know that could download a few mods to make it more of a challange so I guess I shouldn't complain. But I'm just amazed at the general trend in gaming industry where it seems to look down at the players. Is it only me, or?

Hmm, well I guess what I really wanted to say that I forgot; the AI is just to simple to semi-abuse. It's so easy to avoid all the incoming damage with angles, range and the mighty backpedaling due to the extreme stupidity of the AI, and well.. There is no mod for that. I mean even the Doom 1 AI was more effective. So I guess I'm really complaining on the fact that the AI is too easy to exploit. I mean this was also the case in Fo3 so it really begs the questions; why didn't they rework the most obvious retardations in the AI system, they had a few years on them.

At first, hard as hell.
After first lvl 30 char, cakewalk.
Unless you try to create an explosives character.
Those are hard as hell to maintain.

Some types of character make the game very easy. Play again and use different skills?

Not very hard. And hardcoe mode would've been better off named survival mode.

After its release, I remember threads about how hard it was. I also remember having a hard time myself and I even considered backing down my Normal game to Easy. I didn't stay on the roads while exploring and now I realize that I did try things that might be better at a later level. I didn't back my game down to Easy and I'm glad I didn't. It got better as I went along. Great that you had such an easy time. :)

Well, I'd like to have a challange, hence the park stroller outfit. I mean playing through the game with 0 armor. jeeze :/

This is true.
I just started an explosives character, combined with Energy Weapons and I can't wait to get my hands on the Grenade Machinegun. I think things will be much easier once I get it.

Think again.
Ammo is expensive as hell and I went 100 barter with her.
So once you do get it you're going to have to do a lot of weapon runs on either fiends or black mountain just to keep up. (Unless you're good at gambling and earn tons of caps that way)
Playing Explosives character is really hard. >_<
Worse is when you try to not use any other weapons too AND have a companion with you.
I've reloaded so many times from killing either me or Cass.

Not hard enough, that's for sure.

But at times, it can be challenging. The usual nightstalker ,cazadore, deathclaw encounters.

Wish I could turn up the amount of enemies and encounters. Yay consoles
