Let me tell you a fallout joke

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:25 pm

Six weeks ago a guy walks into a store very excited and buys a new game.
He plays it and it's very buggy
He reads reviews and dozens of online articles pointing to this being one of the buggiest games in recent history
His friends tell him to beware
He is worried
The game breaks
He waits for a patch
It doesn't come
6 weeks later, it hasn't come
He is angry

Get it?

Here's another.

Man reads thread,
Man reads another thread just like it,
And another,
And another,
And another,
And another,
Man has an idea,
Man says, "Learn to use the search bar."

Ok, lemme tell you a new story:

There is a man
who gets FNV
its buggy
oh cool, a patch comes out!
The patch causes new bugs,
The game breaks
He wishes the "patch"
got tested better.

How would you feel if the "patch" caused more bugs? Be glad that they are testing the patch.

Oh wait, they didn't.
Asking me to be thankful that they are doing their jobs with the salary they make from a consumer who didn't receive a product that they sold is insane. What's the point in kissing their asses on this board? Do you think you're going to get a free fallout coaster? You already got one, it's called the game. *rimshot*

Just because you got bugs, doesn't mean that everyone got bugs.

180+ hours.

Less than five CTDs, no freezes, and no major bugs. Of what little minors bugs I had, I fixed them right away.

Feels good man.

This game is like finally screwing a really hot girl that you've wanted to for a long time and then getting herpes. The herpes kind of ruins something that by all rights should have been magical. Herpes is such a buzz kill. Like the bugs.

This. I have experienced very little bugs and I have nearly 100 mods already.

Although I personally haven't experiences anything I consider to be a major problem, I agree that they really should have tested this game better with all the complaints about major problems and even some of the problems I have experienced myself (the couple of crashes didn't bother me, but when V.A.T.S. is unresponsivem the occasional quest just becomes unfinishable for no reason, and my reputation with a group changes for no reason I do get a bit irritated).

On another note, good joke.

Yes, you're right they don't exist. We're all making them up. That list of hundreds of bugs is a conspiracy to overthrow obama before he turns us all into muslims.

inb4 game works great for me.
I don't listen to you because you're the same people who when someone tells you they have cancer you yell back, WELL I DON'T HAVE CANCER.

This.

I've had something like four crashes, a couple of NPCs and creatures stuck in the terrain and a couple of AI issues.

On the other hand, a lot of people have had problems, but that doesn't mean everybody is having problems. Just like the fact that a good percentage can play the game just fine doesn't mean that problems are being exagerated or imagined.

The game could have done with more testing yes, but thousands of people are more likely to find issues than the far smaller number of testers the game had.

Wow this just seems like flamebaiting to me, we already have a bug report thread, and at least that is productive. Threads like these the OP disregards/flames people who have a different opinion or starts a flame war. Never good.

The game is ridiculously laggy/glitchy/buggy and should never be sold as it was and is hard to believe possible to bring one out this bad. But I think there seems to be a lot of reasons which most people dont realise why its like this eg Game was rushed for deadline, out of date engine used to create it, lazy programming etc.

Still no excuse really, when a game is as bad as this it does need delayed not just put in the shops and patched later. Could of been a big a hit as FO3 if they took a bit of extra time.

http://www.funnyforumpics.com/forums/IBTL/1/IBTL-Motivational_poster.jpg

The only reason people are saying this is 'THA BUGGIEZT GAME EVA!!!!11oneone' is because it's so high profile, if some small-scale unimportant game [read: Alpha Protocol] got released even buggier it would get hardly any attention, but people want their Fallout PERFECT, but for me from a storytelling standpoint - which I love more than the gameplay and helped keep the appeal even when the style changed between 2, Tactics, and 3, it IS perfect. If there is an award for best storywriting in a game (maybe there is?) New Vegas should win hands...down.

I'm also glad the patch isn't instantaneously being released like magic, that's how games get screwed up even worse.

So need a time-travel/alternate universe machine so I can watch people freak out in the universe where Bethesda delayed the game an extra month due to bugs.

If someone is having trouble running the game it is unhelpful for someone to stop by and remark that they're not experiencing those problems. However hyperbole breeds hyperbole and when you make claims like the above people will come in with evidence to the contrary. At this point it doesn't take much for it to spiral out of control just as this thread did.

Trying to get a buggy game to work can be beyond frustrating but threads like this don't help anyone involved.
