Unobtainable Weapons

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 2:08 pm

Is it just me or are Rock-It Launchers and Shishkebabs like unobtanium in the Mojave Wasteland? I grabbed the schematics to the RIL in the Boomer B-29 hangar, yet I never get a recipe or build prompt at workbenches to build one when I have all the components. I've heard Caesar's weaponsmith sold Shishkebabs, but I've never been offered one. I don't care too much about the RIL, but the Shish was always my favorite Melee Weapon until the Bumper Sword and Oh Baby! came along. Anybody else get a RIL or Shishkebab? Also, I heard there's exactly ONE Chinese Shocksword somewhere in the Wasteland, but I don't know where.

RIL Schematics are just left overs from FO3, It is useless in this game, Shiskebob is awesome, CL has it sometimes, Some raiders do too, And that Shocksword is BS or its in Wild Wasteland.

Crafting in this game is limited to Ammo, making Chems/Poisons, repair kits, and to a certain extent, modifying existing weapons.

There are no weapons you can create from scratch in this game like in Fallout 3.

Not entirely true mon frer... I made a handful of Powder Charges from a schematic I got off a Powder Ganger workbench at the NCR prison, some Time Bombs with high enough EXP and REP, and extra rare Bottlecap Mines with high EXP. Is it just me or did Obsidian c-block us with VERY limited amounts of Cherry Bombs in Mojave to not build mass-amounts of Bottlecap Mines? They were my favorite Deatchclaw crippler in FO3, especially when you made 3 for the price of 1 set of parts with all the schematics. >:)

The crafting in FONV is nerfed to the point that I don't even bother with it. It seems that components for anything that is actually good or helpfull are extermely limited.

At least the weapons weren't completely deleted from the game, one time a found a raider with a Shiskebob in fair repair, but that was still a rare find.

For PC users: In Mick & Ralph's at Freeside, in Mick's (or Ralph, I forgot who sells the guns) secret room, beghind the inaccessable cell door, I saw a bunch of F3 weapons that were lined up along the wall, one of which including a Railway Rifle. If you can use noclip, please try it so my suspense can finally cease.

I'm assuming your on console. You can get the naughty nightwear from FO3 in that same room if you use the 3rd person camera glitch/exploit. It gives a +10 speech and a +1 luck (I think).

Non-functional dummy weapons, same as the ones in the Gunrunners kiosk.

edit: Naughty Nightwear is for sale, and remarkably affordable.

Did not know you could make explosives, but that kind of makes sense as those are more Craftable that anything else. The steps you would go through to make a poison could just as easily be used to make an explosive with different ingredients. However the weapons I was refering to were things like the Rocket Launcher and Railway Rifle and similar.

I've found maybe five cherry bombs in the whole game. Disappointing. The guide only mentions about 6-8. I'd like to build at least a few bottlecap mines. Know any good locations?

You can get the Shishkebab from Legion Assassins. Obsidian's failure to remove items from 3 that are not suppose to be in NV just shows their mediocre effort.

There are at least a couple of craftable weapons in New Vegas although none from FO3. They are the Time Bomb, Powder Charge and Dogtag Fist if I remember correctly.
