How this forum resembles the Fallout universe..

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 6:10 pm

Hi all!

first let me say, this is not a thread for bickering or swearing or flaming or anything that may break the rules dangit!

this is a "General Discussion"!

..

Since the launch of New Vegas, i have seen it all here on the forums, from the early joyous fun discovery posts and ACTUAL game discussions to the first spotting of game save corruptions and the sickly spiral of devolution which our current state here at the forums languishes in.. writhing and seething like a pack of mutated rats in the sewers beneath New Vegas..

to see first hand what i mean simply search my post history..

it starts well enough, but ends quite nasty, due to the omnipresence of the vile creature known as "reality", and his dastardly henchman, "common sense"

I see quite a few similarities between the Fallout Universe and our twisted little community here at the official Fallout New Vegas forums...

how, after unspeakable tragedy happened to a community, it severed and splintered a once whole and cohesive unit of fans, into a disseminated cesspool of downtrodden masses, raiders, scavengers, and trolls - all trying to survive in the aftermath of the "bugocalypse"

i see posters who should be enjoying themselves talking about the cool ins and outs of the game instead at each others throats about the smallest of issues, trading snide comments and eliteism oozing out of every orifice as they foam at the mouth and drool all over their keyboards in blind hatred for all who disagree with their position...

there are the sickly lot like myself who have been mutated along the way, once uber-fans and ardent customers, now ghoulish shades of our former selves, cowering in the shadows, yet every day checking the forum for the cure to our ails..

of course there are many "feral" types of the aforementioned ghoulish posters, and these are the most mangled of souls, their loyalties forever lost to the foul and sickly sweet winds of "reality", these sad creatures tear into any and all alike, with no care for who they hurt, as they themselves have been hurt beyond repair.

my favorite type of wasteland forum dwellers are the people who refuse to accept that a disaster has happened, blindly refusing to believe that someone somewhere has had an issue with their game, whether it is a small bug or a game stopping one, in the face of overwhelming proof..

all comparisons to tyrannical overlords will be self censored for the extension of this thread's longevity...

;)

the ones who shall not be named are doing a great job! *cowers, covers head and prays*

yup, it's all here..

so i ask you, wasteland forum dwellers:

can't we all agree we just want to play the game?

why do we have to fight amongst ourselves?

oh yeah, it's teh interwebz

*doh*

"People are people so why should it be, that you and I should get along so awfully. I can't understand, what makes a man, hate another man, help me understand..."

....yup, it's the internet. There's always going to be debate, disagreement, and sometimes, bad feelings. Kinda like in real life, only magnified 1000x. If you find it's getting to you that much, stop reading forums. And I don't mean that in a "mean" way...eg I don't read comments on news or sports sites because they're usually just filled with idiotic flaming rather than discussion. :)

I enjoy reading comments of news sites. It makes feel morally superior to all the racists/trolls/ill-informed. :batman:

The first 10/15 seconds basically sum up what he is saying.

This. Plus, the OP's post made me laugh (not a bad laugh a good one!). Also, I'd have to disagree with your rather enteraining "this forum resembles fallout post." We should all keep in mind this is a forum and people have different views on issues and they come to these forums to share them with the rest of the world. If everyone agreed the discussions on this forum would dwindle to near nothing.
