Not normally. There are mods that allow you to do this however.

No. The game ends after the MQ, but you are warned before you get past the point of no return.

Yes you can. When you reach the point of no return (you'll know it) save the game. Then complete the main quest and once the credits roll reload your save from just before the point of no return. Continue playing with this character as long as you want.

This would mean that...no. You can NOT continue play after the main quest. Reloading doesn't count as after the MQ as your save takes place before the final scene. Your "life" in NV ends abruptly and without reason. Hopefully they fix this rather stupid decision in a future DLC.

FONV isn't supposed to represent the courier's entire life.

You might have an argument for this in Fallout 3 since it depicts you being born. But in NV you start the role of the courrier at a specific point in his/her life, then the story ends at another specific point in his/her life.

3...2...1... Commence listing and refuting.

1. Unnesscary for the plot line
2. Time and effort to write and account for each ending
3. Would be a mammoth task of implimenting the DLC
4. Would cost too much from Bethesda point of view
5. The effects after would be lack luster
6. I have an owl therefore you're wrong
7. Also.....OHGOD A DEATHCLAW.....HELP ME...............
8. :bolt:
9. :bolt:
10. :bolt:
11. Spinal Tap reference

The OP has his answers and I'm just going to go ahead and lock this to prevent multiple posts saying the same thing. :)
