I bought the game guide for New Vegas and in it the guide says that after you help Boone with his quest you can take his armor and wear it yourself. Well atleast for me that doesn't work it doesn't even show up in his inventory. Just wanted to know if the guide is wrong or if something isn't right with my game.

The guide is wrong. It's non-playable.

After you do his quest 'One for my baby', you get the 1st Recon Beret... That's what the guide is talking about presumably. Companion armors are not usable for players, or their weapons. (unless you mod it...)
