This needs to be stickied NOW.

Good thread my man. Now you just need to edit your post where it says you have to be playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAL76WYw0FE in the background when you're reading the little Timmy part

If only every moron would read this thread. Then this forum would get that much better :foodndrink:

Meant to add to the conversation:

Friend who's playing had 3 quests come to a point where he could only choose one outcome. The other two failed after his decision was made. I didn't want to know the names of them, but apparently he hasn't even met House yet - so pre-Strip.

Great thread!

Don't get me wrong, I love the open-ended play in 2 of my favourite games, Morrowind and Oblivion - I've been playing both regularly since release to the present day! (not the same game though, I get bored after I've done everything and start a new character). The MQ end of those games resolved a crisis but did not make significant (and varied, dependent upon outcome) changes to the game world. There has to be a sacrifice in order to achieve this, and the thing that is sacrificed is player choice and taking sides in the MQ, you're the hero in a classic fantasy good vs evil battle, the MQ has to pan out in a certain way.

FONV is not so black and white, it's a story with many sides to choose from and decisions that have different results which significantly impact on the game world. So the sacrifice is that the game has an end.

This is not a problem and I wonder why some view it as such. Most games have an end, novels and films have an end. Maybe in these days of neverending film sequels and huge 10 installment book series, people can't cope with the fact that some of the best stories really do sometimes end with the hero riding into the sunset, never to be heard from again.

Yes the game doesnt svck for having a definite ending. Yes it makes sense story wise to have an ending like this. But after all you said, it still does not change the fact that the game ends. Basically your advice summed up is "To keep the game from ending, just dont let it end Timmy!" "Now go sit down while we talk with the grown-ups, You should know better than to have your own opinion Timmy!" :flame: *flame away*

I'd still like to be able to play after the ending, simply because that is the only time you can ever acquire Veteran Ranger armor, and since you can only pick them up literally right before the credits roll, http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AwesomeButImpractical

Funny because I remember seeing a Veteran Ranger at Camp Golf and some protecting Kimball.

Mister Sandman + Camp Golf = AMR's, Ranger Combat Armor's, Brush Gun's, and Ranger Sequoia's.

What about new game + which would be super harder but let us carry over some items like oh i don't know THE BLADE OF THE EAST! and Lanius' Helmet? Just saying that the quest line did not need to end after that battle, It could have continued by making us go raid the fort and kill cesar or something.

Even though Caesar could already be dead or the Legion convinced to withdraw without a further fight.

"Alright, well fine. But what if I just want to go screw around after the credits roll?"

Wouldn't we all love to, Timmy. However, you may have noticed that the ending of the game tells you the overall outcome of your Courier's accomplishments. Playing the game after the credits wouldn't allow you to experience any of those.

Ah yes, the savory goodness of canned pieces of text and audio, wouldn't want to trade those for some silly ol′ free-roaming while playing future DLC and what not, oh no, can't have that!

The ending was good, please Obsidian, do not screw it with a Broken Steel-esque DLC

The reason for the hard ending is so they can list, continue your adventure after the game ends!, as a "feature" in an expansion pack.

Obsidian has already explained that they won't do that.

Know how I know you didn't digest the OP?

This story has a definitive ending. Many games have them in their story.
