Why do random factions I am neutral with attack me ED-E : Fallout: New Vegas

It is getting anoying walking around with an angry man swinging his hammer at my robot all the time.

Edit: I walked into boomer main building any everyone took out guns and knifes a molested my robot.

Is there some way to stop this? It is getting... weird.

Does ED-E have any food on it? There's a bug that NPC will want to take that food and the only way for that is killing ED-E.
I also heard something about its quest breaking some things but I'm not sure about that.

I do store some food on it
