Can't find a gun that's worth a hoot in this game!


Cowboy repeater is the best rifle and I'm like level 20 or something. Feels like I'm using harsh language!

Strange because the overwhelming feeling is that the guns are overpowered compared to the other weaponry.

You have to go out and find them. Uniques are hidden away or are quest rewards, try the gun runners, buy weapons.

If I can't quick scope a Deathclaw, then I won't use it.

The Anti-materiel rifle and This Machine which kills Deathclaws also disagrees.

GCSR all along with its desert camo, kills Deathclaws in 2 shots when spotted and 1 shot kill when hidden.

I've found the guns to be quite overpowered as I can kill just about anything with 1 or 2 shots. Then again I'm also getting a critical hit almost every time. Could have a lot to do with your character build too.

Before or after the nerf? They reduced the sniper rifle's damage by 1/3rd in the new patch.

It's just you.
You don't say how far into the game you are, but maybe you just haven't found/bought the "good ones" yet? You can level very fast in this game, so that doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of gear acquired.

I didn't get the patch yet, I'm waiting for it (I'm on console, not PC), so I didn't know that. But did they reduce the GCSR's damage too?

Shotguns, shotguns, shotguns....... Ad infinitum.

Seriously a single barrel shotgun with some skill will take down any unarmoured foe.
Give it slugs and it will take down any armoured foe you will encounter quickly except deathclaws or similar difficulty foes..

Take a caravan shotgun, add rapid reload, shotgun surgeon and fast shot at over 70 skill in guns you'll take down giant radscorpions in two - four shots very quickly.

Hunting shotgun at later levels or a riot one will carve through anything.

A 10mm or 9mm when modded can clear a room in around 6 seconds.

A hunting rifle can auto kill a deathclaw, take a brushgun you don't even need to sneak.

Guns are in no way weak, given proper choice of perks ( and you really only need two perks at that ) they're powerfull in the truest sense.

..also, what ammo? Some enemies respond better to Armor Piercing rounds, some need Hollowpoints.

You probably don't have a good arsenal of weapons yet. Things become a cake walk once you are introduced to the good arsenal.
Plus, why do you want to quick scope a deathclaw? No skill is required to destroy a deathclaw, skill is gained once one is murdered though.

Look for other guns, moron.
