When is the NEXT patch coming out?

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 2:59 am

It's great that all three platforms finally have the latest patch, and it only took 2 months after the initial release date of FO:NV. But there are still many issues as Bethesda/Obsidian are far form getting this game in "perfect" working order.

So can we have an update on if you guys are working on the next patch or not? Are you even working on the next patch at all before the new year? When is the next patch coming out?

Who knows. They're probably focusing on the DLC at the moment.

Could next patch put a little focus one giving some explosives a better damage or -DT feature or something?
It's bad enough that they kill me, companions, blow all valuable loot in the room away, is expensive and heavy but also has crap damage.
Considering it's downsides the weapon class should be extremely powerful.
And make Grenade Launcher/Rifle and 40mm grenades more accessible and hell, let us craft explosives ammo.

So Energy Weapons were underpowered.
This was fixed from what I've heard with the current patch.

Now, take care of Explosives. :stare:

Energy weapons have been mostly fixed, explosives needs quite an overhaul, id be fine with them them increasing the base damage and add dt mitigation on explosive ammo and/ or perks.

FO:NV is still in need of repair

I have a feeling this game will always be in need of repair, to someone (or a lot of someone's).
So far every (pc) patch has given me a glitch/bug that I didn't have before, but others apparently already had...then next patch fixes those back for me but gives me yet more new glitches I didn't ever have before, etc.

Only fix I would like to see is for hardcoe mode. I am sick and tired of ending each and every encounter with head concussion. Be it in melee or ranged combat they always hit my head. No kind of equipment helps avoid that and not even adamantium skeleton changes [censored]!!! (what a waste btw - not sure if that's what it's exactly called:-/)

I read a comment somewhere from J.E. Sawyer that he's not done fixing explosives.

I suspect they will work on the next patch after they see what the DLC breaks.

I'm understanding of PC bugs, but less so for Xbox and PS3. all consoles ARE created equal... so there's not much excuse for them to be really buggy..

That's incorrect micheal the ps3 is much much different than the xbox360. That aside microsoft has a habit of using refurbished hardware in new and repaired systems. Some will have no problems at all others will have all sorts of problems. Mass effect 1 ran like cake on my old 360 but had huge video lag and performance issues on his xbox.

They still haven't fully fixed up bugs in Oblivion and Fallout 3 what makes you think they'll "fully" fix the bugs in New Vegas? As a matter of fact quite a few engine glitches where passed on from Oblivion to Fallout 3 and now on to New Vegas.

My impression is that consoles are becoming, at least in a certain sense, more like computers all the time....give them another 20 years and they'll have their own host of tech problems. Less than true PC's but.... :D

That's not the point. With PCs, there are infinite combination of configurations - hundreds of types and brands of graphics cards with dozens of types processors with hundreds of motherboards and dozens of sound cards and thousands of quantities/types of RAM and etc etc. Now how many different PS3s and 360s are there? Maybe 4 of each? They have no excuse not to test for bugs on each of those types of consoles and squash all of those bugs before release.

I think we could safely say that the bugs are in the engine and programming of FNV - it's across all platforms, many of the ctd and graphic type issues come from earlier games particularly F3, and from what I've seen the patch primarily fixed things that were 'gloss' - such as issues with quests, game balance stuff, and 'game specific' problems like the lever-action bug. I think many of those last problems could have been picked up and corrected with a more thorough beta testing/quality assurance regime.

Yeah. I'm not real bothered about the bugs because I was one of the lucky ones (except that damned arm raise thing which is now worse), and I do love this game, but I question the practice of releasing an unfinished product. Yes, modern games are very complicated and bugs can be insidious and hard to recreate, but the fact that there was a patch ready the next day means that ObsiBeth knew there were problems.

Nah, the consoles will continue to evolve to have constantly more features untill they become indistingushable from PCs. Then a need for a platform dedicated solely for gaming arises, and PS 6 and XBOX 1800 will once again be pure gaming machines :D
