1000 PING SERVERS - do you still see them?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:58 am

hey guys. just wondering if you guys still have issues with 1000 ping servers? i only get around 10-20 servers max that are less than 300. the rest are 1000 ping servers and there are probably over 100 of them when the filters kick in.

Yea most of the >300 ping servers are, at least for me, the DE .4netplayers.de servers. It's weird cause when i join i normally have a ping going from 50 to 150.

The 1000ms ping in the browser isn't the ping you will have ingame, so check through those servers and if you see one that has a name suggesting it's local then your ping in it should be fine.

90-95% of all servers are 1000 ping servers for me, and 99% of all servers I can't join because of the connection to host failed error. Isn't the multiplayer nice?

I believe it is only a browser bug..... i see them just as you guys do. 90% are 1000 ping & about 12 servers are 300 or lower

The pings shown on the browser are nowhere near correct, wasn't even right in the beta. Even when a server is showing 300 I get ~30-40 in game, I've not seen 1 server in the ingame browser that was even close to correct.
Only way to really pick a server is filter by region and then just look at the server name as most say where it's hosted and chose the most local to you.

I have 90 % of my servers list with 1000 ping... I CAN connect at this server and when I look the ping (when connected the server) this is 40-60 ms...
It is very annoyng because I can't select a servers with low ping from the JOIN MATCH menu.. I select it random..

The 1000 ping servers is just a browser bug! I connect to Singapore server (which is the nearest for me) and gets a connection of less than 50ms.

The browser is pretty inaccurate at predicting ping generally having a tolerance of 100ms. That said it'd be interesting to confirm whether the 1000ping servers are really non-playable. If it is a browser bug like DaPAYNEakaSTEVE its pretty game crippling, most of the time the few servers you can chose from are full :(

I play on servers located in Germany, UK and even if they have 1000ms ping in browser i am sure that it is less than 100ms ;) If someone can't connect to server with 1000ms probably server is to far and have high ping, some servers just sux so they reject most players xD

The problem is that even if your pings are fine on a 1000 ping server, most people (including myself) won't be bothered to trial and error the servers until a good one is found. As much as I love the multiplayer, I'd rather not waste a bunch of time looking for a server, or waiting in line to join one of the 3 <200ms servers, I'll just play something else.

indeed crytek. Why oh why did you entrust gamespy with the server browsing needs. Gamespy was cool back in the 90's before they started focusing on advertising and money making more than the server browsing software itself. These days they are horrible. I remember paying $20 for a lifetime membership to gamespy arcade...yet before i found the program completely useless they were making me deal with advertisemants as they switched over to subscriptions. in-game browsers have never been that great. I personally miss the days of being able to use something like The All Seeing Eye to browse for servers and launch the game and connect using command strings. A server browser is pretty useless to me if it's not reporting accurate pings as I personally try to join servers close to me that I ping low to. what I'd really love - is for you to get rid of the whole "login" process and give us a command line parameter to connect to an IP address so that i can use something like all-seeing eye to browse and connect to a server. However in the sight of money - developers are more interested in keeping software piracy at bay by using methods found unnacceptable to the pc gaming community when it was at it's peak than using tried and tested methods that avoid these complications we shouldn't be experiencing with a $60 game.

Most piracy is done by people who can't afford or wouldn't buy your games to begin with...so how about you show a little love to the people who do support you by buying your games instead of offering us limitations on behalf of those who aren't really harming your business to begin with?

1000 ping is oftently playable.
Check the server location and i can guarantee that you'll have the time of your life.
I only play on 1000 ping servers and i get less that 50 for PING.
