Questions about, and issues with, Honest Hearts

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 5:25 pm

First, I would like to say that I am not a fan of DLC's and did not like those for FO3 and have yet to play either of the addons for FONV, but I am interested in playing Honest Hearts (and def Lonesome Road for Ulysses but probably not Old World Blues) but I have a few issues with it that come up at first glance that I was unable to answer on the wiki

Basically, it feels as if Honest Hearts has a very narrow scope as far as quest completion. Am I understanding it correctly that the player can either support the Burned Man and his tribals or Daniel and his tribals against the White Legs? Can the player not side with the White Legs and eliminate the Burned Man? Is there no option to work overtly, or otherwise, for Caesar's Legion or the NCR?

It just feels as if you get the choice to side with the good guys or the slightly tarnished good guys or that one is forced to aid only non-secular factions. Does Honest Hearts not give the player the flexibility of choice and richness in diversity of experience granted by vanilla FONV?

EDIT/Followup: Did anyone here dislike Honest Hearts? If so, why?

You've got three endings.

1: Kill the white legs
2: Evacuate Zion of friendlies.
3: Kill everyone

The real joy of Honest Hearts was finding out the history of Zion from 2077 to current.

Honest Hearts is definitely not your type of dlc. It is extremely linear in what options you have. The white legs are not really a tribe that you can speak to as they do not speak english. As such you are only given 2 maybe 3 major choices. There are a number of quests (probably more side-quests the history of zion is better than the main story.) and a number of places to explore but is limited in terms of choices. The major choice comes down to fight or flight. I will say this though...the white legs are tough sonnaofa[censored]es. you can technically side with the white legs but then that ends the dlc (you can return mind you but the dlc is essentially done with the main plot). This inability to side with the white legs was the biggest disappointment in the dlc although makes sense since none of them can really speak english and are more or less raiders with heavy arms.

Old World Blues looks a lot more interesting in my opinion. Honest Hearts wasn't bad though...except in story/choices.

i can't find a way to actually work with CL or NCR in this DLC, though you think there would be a way, or that they could have included a little dialogue to Caesar if you killed the Burned Man (I killed him just looking for that sort of thing and found none) however, you can tell Josh that you killed Caesar...this pleases him :hehe:

I'd keep an eye on Old World Blues as I think it has great potential. Although admittedly I am biased because it has talking appliances. It's more of a throwback to the dark humor and zaniness of the original fallout games. At the very least wait and find out what people dislike about it before you decide to dismiss it altogether. I do agree that Lonesome Road does sound like the most appealing...OWBs does however introduce Ulysses to you if everything is to be believed.
