Which 2nd follower should I get?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 8:05 am

Topic/Poll.

I'm doing Mr. Houses main quest, and was wondering which follower to get? I currently just have ED-E on this file, and he's basically my pack mule. :D

I've gotten Boone with most of my files, so I want to try on someone different for once. I don't really know much info on Gannon or "The Ghoul" so if someone can please clarify what they're good at (armor/weaponry/etc.), and what perks they have. It'd be much appreciative!!! :flamethrower:

I know what all the others do as far as all that. But which follower should I go with? I'm letting you decide people! :toughninja:

NOTE: Please reply to this topic with what you voted, and why. Thanks!

EDIT: I am currently LV16. The following skills are all at 50+:
Barter
Guns
Lockpick
Medicine
Repair
Science
Sneak
Survival

Give Veronica a ballistic fist and some good armor and she tears [censored] up. I think that her perk is kinda worthless though.

Raul then do his unmarked quest for the "Full Maintenance" perk. You'll almost never need to repair your gear after that.

....yeaaa bout that.. Mr House wants me to kinda kill the BoS at this very moment in my quest. YEAAA... lol..

I would though if I wasn't, maybe after I do that part I will but I need someone NOW to help me do that part. I fear they will easily annihilate ED-E, and then me soon after.

So yeah pretty much... IDK. I dread going to Black Mountain sometimes, it's a pain in the but and if I don't do things right that Lady or w/e goes hostile on me and I end up killing her (I try to fix her Robot and get her to stop that way).

What weaponry is he good with though? The ghoul that is...

Marksman Carbine and a crapload of cheap surplus 5.56mm ammo. With a modest charisma of 4 he'll put out an obscene amount of damage with that.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken, you could pick her up, and do her quest, have her leave the BoS, drop her off at the 38, and then the BoS will have a little "accident" and she'll be none the wiser?

Raul is the best Gun companion, no doubt, he is the best, any gun, any time, he will kill anything for you, and give you a snappy sarcastic comment to boot, seriously my favorite character, a 200 year old sarcastic Mexican cowboy, how awesome is that?

Get Veronica because she is a melee character and won't muscle in on your long range kills.

Her quest is one of the more interesting and easy to trigger.

And she carries a workbench around with her, I've no idea where she hides it but it's always handy.

The only one that I've never used on that list is Lily. Arced, I left him with his default weapons, and had absolutely no problems with. Raul is who I voted for, I've used him on all three of my characters. Cass is my runner up, love her, and she's usually the first one I pick up...mostly because of those super mutants will kill me if I go there to early to get Raul. Veronica I fired.

If your into energy weapons and use over-charged or max-charged cells, your gonna need Raul for his maintenaince perk....I don't have him follow me, I just make him sit at the BoS bunker while I go out for fun.

I don't like followers because it makes the game less challenging for me.

Though I would recommend ED-E, he's not annoying or comes with "baggage" like the other companions, and plus I hate dogs so no Rex for me. ED-E is just fun to have around as he plays victory music in battles and his crazy radar bonus is always useful.

Arcade is fairly weak with his primary weapon being a plasma defender but his quest is very interesting and
Spoiler
you can get the Enclave Remnants to fight alongside you at the final battle at Hoover Dam AND you can get Remnant's power armor: the best in the game if you complete his quest line: For Auld Lang Syne.
His perk is fairly good, giving better healing from everything (food, stimpaks etc.)

Lily is a great melee companion and is also quite funny. She was my first 'human' companion but I haven't used her ever since she lost my Oh Baby! :sadvaultboy: her perk is pretty good: allowing you to use stealth boys for a longer amount of time.

I haven't had much experience with Raul (the ghoul guy) but his perk is very useful: 50% slower weapon degradation and
Spoiler
75% slower after completing his quest.
Also, he is fairly difficult to get :
Spoiler
because you have to get to the top of the super mutant infested Black Mountain to get him.

Cass is a good companion. her shotgun is useful at close range but her perk Whiskey Rose isn't brilliant.
Spoiler
however if you complete her quest by killing Alice MacLafferty and the Van Graffs, she gets a damage boost making her even more deadly.

Veronica is also a good companion. her power fist is so powerful if she gets close enough. Her perk allows you to craft any workbench item through dialogue which personally I didn't find useful but others might.
Spoiler
As she is a member of the Brotherhood, you are granted instant access to the bunker at Hidden Valley, instead of having to "prove your worth." also as she is in the Brotherhood, she has power armour training meaning you can give her any power armour when you get later in the game.
she's also very easy to get.

I could sit here and spend over an hour explaining why Raul is the only valid companion in this game, but I don't think any of you could comprehend such awesomeness that is Raul Alfonso Tejada. For shame.

Raul the Ghoul you can't remeber is name. Ed-E and Raul come across the same people that set their quest going. If you have Arcade first it can cause Rauls quest not to finish. I found that out the hard way.

Raul (The Ghoul) has always been my favorite. He has a great personality and background, and to me he seems like a legitimate 'companion' as opposed to being just someone who follows you around and shoots what you shoot.

Arcade Gannon really pays off, you can get some sweet power armor that kinda brings you back to the Fo2 days.

Veronica for sure, ballistic fist plus power armor and she becomes a tank...plus shes played by felicia day! What could be better than that? Arcade is cool but you might as well just recruit him right before the battle at hoover damn and do his companion quest for the reward. I've never been able to do raul's quest because of ranger quest breaking andy. Lily isn't that great in my opinion. Cass is fine but you better supply her with a hunting shot gun and a but load of ammo, also here quest will kill one of the energy weapons dealers

Also if you do house quest, the one with the bos, veronica becomes hostile...unless you sneak attack all the enemies in that quest...thats already pretty border line spoiler-ish so if you need more info you and message me

Definitely Raul. I am more of a rusher with SMG's, ARs, Explosives and Shotguns. I use Built to Destroy and Fast Shot, (Sneak, Guns, Explosives) And the 15% faster degradation+ More RPM (Rounds per minute)+ Spraying ammo all over the place= Very Fast Degradation. That's why you pick up Raul, give him the full maintenance perk and not even worry about it! Plus he's pretty good with a pistol even without the Vaquero perk.

Edit: Awww poor Lily, she didn't get any votes ;(. Thats what you get for giving us a useless perk! :D

Arcade is freaking hilarious if you bring him to certain trigger locations, and he tears [censored] up with his plasma defender. Give him the YCS and things will inexplicably start dying around you.

He'll be upset with you for making him fight for House, but he gets a happy ending from it anyway if he stays in Freeside for the final battle.
