Either way, what build out should I do for my character?

I don't see why you can't make such a decision yourself. There's no right or wrong when it comes to making a build.

for a legion play through? sneak medicine and melee. Medicine becuase it come up in one of the legion quests. Also you might need a really high speech for some of the more evil things to say i'm not for sure on that though

Medicine is boring, and your gonna have your meds taken away every time you go to the fort unless you pass a speech check, so hotkeying will be a problem.

When you get the legion safe house key, there's a campfire right at the front. Very convenient for survivalists. Plus survival makes more sense for a melee kind of person.
You can also get a steady supply of stealth boys from the safehouse guy, so it goes great with melee.

Yah
But there are some cases like if your trying to role play as a important person like Tom hanks or something so you need to get it exact...

Take sneak, energy weapons and explosives. Whatever doesn't die with a gauss shot to the head will be crippled by landmines and you can dance in circles around them while calling them rude names. Who needs to talk to NPCs when you can launch them to the moon with a mini-nuk or tesla beaton.

Rather than an "evil guy," why not a bounty hunter? You could take contracts from the Legion and the NCR, and any other faction.

I'd prefer being in the Legion, although being an actual Legionary is... difficult. I have a Centurion, with max melee, using a machete. I've recently started to put guns up on him, just because I know that it will be very, very, VERY difficult using only melee.

Legionary hands down. Being a flat out evil guy is fun when your shooting innocent people in the face but thats about the only fun you'll have, this is from my experience of course.

Yeah, evil guys can be all sorts of different things, Legionaries are evil with a good belief driving them.

If you're going to whole heartedly serve the legion, make sure you get medicine...Caesar will love you for it

A flat out evil guy is just flat out evil while a legionnaire is merely a brainwashed minion of flat out evil leaders.

I made a cool calm collected psycho killer "Dahmer Bundy" and he was just drawn to the purity of the Legions form of justice. He serves Caeser now, but he still slices select passer bys while in the wastes. He cant help it.......

It's quite a misconception that Legionnaires only utilize melee weapons.

"The Legion excels at melee combat, as evinced by their choice of weaponry - primarily, the machete, which cripples limbs. They are not adverse, tactically speaking, to using firearms - scouts carry hunting rifles, while ranked Decanus may use a Cowboy Repeater. Ultimately, this leads to extremely effective Legion raids and surprise assaults. Legionaries are more versatile than the NCR troopers in that they are skilled with both firearms and melee weapons, as well as having been trained to fight aggressively under any and all conditions, whether armed or not."

I'd go with Legion, by far my most fun playthrough, and I'm not even done :hubbahubba:

You may want to tag melee, survival and sneak. Later building on unarmed and medecine. ( survival ONLY if you're going to use just food and drinks and no chems and medecine for a later quest)

Like I said, by far the most fun playthrough I've had. Build it right and you're a fast, deadly assassin/walking tank. You still die, sure, but that's only if you don't know what you're doing.
