DLC Date

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 3:02 am

Soooo.... It's June 9th and they said the DLC was coming out in June, I think it's terrible on Bethesda and Splash Damages part that they havn't even givin us an exact date. Do you guys feel the same way?

Yeah. I think it's pretty lazy.

Edit: Another thing, do we even have a date for the stats site for PC? Seems like they're neglecting PC players a bit if they're not even giving us a date for what console players already have!

I haven't heard any specifics. Its not a huge deal to me though as the DLC isn't fixing any of Brinks problems. Its just more content which is great, but ultimately more of the same.

Without the things the community has been asking for I don't see a purpose in adding more gadgets and what have you.

I'm willing to bet this DLC was supposed to be sold to us for 10$ or 15$ and they had to release it free in order to keep people interested in what appears to be a dying game. Sure you can still find players, for now. There are games on steam that are much older that have much larger online communities still.

The impatience of today's youth is horrid. I bet, when the dlc comes out it will come with a patch. Patience is a virtue.

What happened to the old avatar? :sadvaultboy:

Anyway, as far as I've seen it's common for devs to give usually 1-2 weeks notice of the exact release date for DLC, so we'll compromise and say 10 days. That takes us to June 19 already... if it isn't announced soon, then it'll start to become more likely we won't see it this month, which would be a shame.

Still, I'm giving it at least a week before I start getting uppity.

I've been working on this assumption, too, given that the DLC was probably ready on release day. I fervently hope that we're correct - Bot AI and 360 graphics tweaks are urgently needed.

I'm currently trying to get my newest character to lvl 20, to be ready for the new lvl 24 cap.

Bethesda themselves were pretty busy with E3. So factoring that, and the fact that SD is probably wanting so they can advertise it everywhere on Xbox Live Spotlight (and whatever PS3, and PC uses). They don't want this being overshadowed by E3 news everywhere (despite the fact that it is free DLC).

They haven't set a specific date so they can have some wiggle room, plus they said in June, it could come out on the 30th, or 2 days from now. Wyatt Waste Ranger said it best.

They were definatly goingto charge for this DLC if the game turned out the way they wanted and sold well.

I mean last year when it was supposed to come out it was well documented that the game was goingto ship with 10 maps.... And considering they revealed they were giving us 2 'extra, free' maps wihtin a week of it being out and not selling well its pretty much proof that the maps are already there... altough it wouldnt suprize me if they were neglected and full of glitches during their pretty shabby re-dovelopment of the game.

Only thing maps are goingto do is stop the game getting a stale as there is not so much veriaty and gets quite repetative doing the scripted 'escort' and other objectives the same everytime.
What it needs is to be fixed and finished lol, also some other game modes [not like TDM but objective and more 'free' modes that use the whole map and in different ways everytime]. Maybe deleting some of the unnecessary ones aswell so not to spread out the already few players.

Please, let's not generalize. I am rather young and am still enjoying Brink and I am waiting patiently for the DLC.

If you all had followed Brink from the get-go you would know that the DLC was always planned as is the other 2 DLCs that will soon follow the launch of the 1st DLC. each DLC will be jam packed with as much contant as they are allowed to publish at once. I know for a fact that the 1st DLC will be free as for the others i can not say, i know this though if we have to pay for them its not SD nor Bethesda's doing if it was up to them they would have all DLC free but i know for a fact that sony will not allow this because sony only allows so much free content per game on their network the PSN has to make money somehow right? as for the game itself in my opinion its great i like the whole concept of run and gun/slide and gun/jump and gun lol the only thing i wish for is something like deathmatch and CTF gameplay like warhawk(PS3) or GoW(360)
and for everyone who complains about this game thats fine we brink fans understand this game is too fast pace and to complexed for you its okay you can go back to your slow pace, always behind cover, no sliding, no jumping, no freedom, stuck going from point A to B games, like CoD lol

You realise there are some legitimate complaints about Brink. It's not perfect. Some people just don't appreciate or enjoy what it does really well enough to get past the bad.

Yep, more of the same behavior. I keep wanting to give them, and the game a chance, but like when i start up my 360 (and am unable to play a single online match due to crashing and lag) they just don't deliver in either department.

If you followed Brink from the get go you would know that it was origionally going to ship with 10 maps...
Its nothing to do with Sony its SD or Bethesda's fault that they never finished the game properly and obviously made sure to finish what they could thus leaving a few maps very much unpolished after they re-doveloped the game. So IF sony cant let a game company publish 'free' DLC.... then it will not be Sony's fault but SD or Bethesda's

Think of it this way.... Think of any other game, specially any other shooter.
And with Brink the campaign is the same as the online [because they were trying to be as 'different' as possible...] and that leaves you with 8 maps which are both exactly the same online and offline, 8 maps which have the exact same scripted objectives each time for one game.
What other game do you no that has this little content? All other shooters have around 8 maps online some more then a complete campaign with even more big and completely different maps, aswell as a story.
For a full price game this is pretty bad.... You should get more maps..... simple as that.
Sure you can say some maps like aquarium are split in 2. But it is one map... its not like its really big or anything....
This game has 8 maps and thats it, nothing else, Love the game but it is lacking in content hugely.

1st: We don't need an exact date for dlc, we need to know that the reason it isnt out yet is that its being tested/adjusted...If you guys had it your way DLC would be out then you'll all be on here crying cuz you found a bug/glitch QQ waa waa.

All shooters nowadays are short and lack luster, look at crysis 2, home front(awful game), kz3, gaylo. They are relying on you buying these DLC's later on so you get 3/8 of a game upon release then the give you a further 2/8 later. We're lucky we get this free cuz crysis2 had buncha probs and they still want $10 for 4 maps.
