Do you think Bethesda likes keeping us in the dark?

Okay, like everyone on this board, I have a overzealous fondness for Fallout, so whenever there is news, theres is a immediate couple hour search for any other tidbits. Unfortunately, the New Vegas DLC's seem to be sprung on people, with announcements provideing vague statements about future expansions. In HH, what trailer has been released was released on the day of the DLC, at the earliest. I know OWB's release date will be announced and then forgotten until the actual day when someone in the office asks, "Should we, I don't know, advertise the new content?" I'd be fine with the lack of info to boost excitement, but these last DLC's haven't been up to snuff, a trailer or advert would've saved me some cash and frustration. It's like they're trying to trick me into getting a cruddy add-on. So, compared to Fallout 3's massive ad campaign for it's Zeta and other DLC's, I'd have to say that the PR and marketing dept is going into a quality decline. Kinda like when all we heard for 3 months was the patch would be out "soon".

Zeta had a massive campaign? I could've sworn all they did was show a trailer the day before it was due for release or something.

But yeah, I don't like being kept in the dark.

I'm sorry, I just can't agree with this at all. I've never seen devs and PR folks interact like Josh, Chris, Matt, Nick and Jason have with us on these boards. These guys have given us a direct pipeline to the top and are very good at giving us the information that they are allowed to. I dare anyone to find a gaming forum where the primary devs are as involved as those on here. Maybe I'm wrong, but these guys (and gals) have completely surpassed any expectations I ever had concerning communication from a gaming company on their message board.

What i like(not) is that people don't seem to understand Bethesda =/= Obsidian and Obsidian =/= Bethesda

Only Josh Sawyer and Chris Avellone are at Obsidian's, all the other names he cited are from Bethesda.

OP I see your point, but there is quite a bit of info about the dlcs. If you think there is not enough info to make a decision about whether of not to buy the dlc, wait to buy it until after others buy it and read about their experience with it first. I, for one do not need a trailer, because I know I will buy it (even if it's crap; I get them for completness, but I like them so far).

That is correct. And only Matt and Nick have to come on these boards. They're the admins. And none of the have to twatter, or formspring or any of the things these guys do to keep us informed. And none of them make the press release decisions on when new info is released. You wanna blame someone, I reckon you could talk to Todd, Pete or Ron.

Obsidian guys before the game was actually being sold interacted on the forums quite a bit more than most devs. But I think the OP meant Obsidian correct, so I'm sticking with this answer?

Even see Avelone answer a few questins or correct someone after some DLCs.

In truth, I couldn't tell you the difference between obsidian or bethesda, and if I'm accidentally poking the wrong dude's chest, oops. My complaint was over information flow from the fallout official website, or how there's little official posting in the forums. I know, I see officials and developer's comments in here occasionally, but that's maybe 1 in 25 threads where questions are posed. But compared to a game like dead space 2, the immediacy of response to issues on their tech. support page, the full trailers to DLC prior to the release of said DLC, well the comparison was pretty shocking and I couldn't resist coming here to vent. Besides, it's not like we only start to see the trailers for movies on the day they arrive in theaters.

Well there's not a lot of info about Fallout New Vega DLC because Softworks is pushing Skyrim, Rage, and Prey 2 at E3. I'm willing to bet that next week we'll get an update.
