MP Auto Team Balance Necessary

Last night I had the awesome opportunity to play an almost full MP game last night of 8v8 on the PS3 :celebration: . The only downside is that for two games in a row on Security Tower the teams were ridiculously stacked in favor of Security with just me alone with bots as Resistance and 7 human players on Security. This wouldn't be as excruciating if my teams AI didn't decide to randomly run around just outside our spawn when we were supposed to be escorting Nechayev to the extraction point.

While I will pat myself on the back for putting up something of a fight and sticking with it through both games to be awarded best overall player and soldier :foodndrink: (not surprising when I'm doing the job of 8 people) but it's annoying that people will stack the teams so unfairly. If SD/Beth could PLEAAASSEEE include an auto team balance it would make the MP experience much greater and fair. Or at the very least make competent enough AI that when teams are incredibly stacked that you won't have to carry the team entirely.

I just don't get how people can think it's fun playing so stacked like that on a map where they had a clear advantage from the get-go just by being the defenders. As much as I raged the entire time at my fellow bots and the other team for not changing sides I couldn't help but laugh that I was still able to complete objectives despite the numbers and odds being in their favor. :intergalactic:

It's pretty sad when..... if you win... it's hilarious cause its so stacked against you. And if you lose it's expected.

Where is the competition in that? Neither sides feel like they were in a competition.... It's really killing this game they need to act fast if they want to save this online community.

Now that the lag is gone, this is my biggest gripe with the game. When a new player enters an ongoing match, he/she, more often than not, is placed on the side which already has numerical superiority?? Where is the sense in this? I feel so sorry for the lone dude stuck on the other team while our side is continually padded with new people X_X Technically we could switch over but in a group of randoms, you can't be certain that others will share the same notion of 'fairness'. If you do the selfless thing, you may end up the only one, bringing the grand total to 2 human players vs 3-4 *Sigh* And I don't think you can beat superior numbers in camp-heavy objectives.

Yeah I agree people shouldn't be allowed to change teams. That just gives people the easy way out. But I guess SD was thinking that it was better to keep people playing rather than quitting a match, which is what players would do anyway if they find they can't win. But the whole Join Friend -> Fireteam tool will continue to disrupt the number balance though.

Anyway this is a major problem as far as the game's longevity is concerned. Frustrate people who are stuck by themselves against teams of 5-6 too many times and they'll leave the game. Give people who are on the team of 5-6 against a solo player too many easy victories which weren't earned and they'll get bored and leave the game. Btw I speak for the PS3. I know full teams on both sides are matter-of-fact on the PC xD

Well I don't know about that, there are certainly a lot of DUMB players on xbox live, without headstes. Been playing 2-3 hours this evening. First game I get into

our team: 3 players enemies: 5 (we are on attack and lose horribly, I was the only engineer repairing the bot. the medic didn't even revive me, I was like, NOOOOO don't revive the ONLY DUDE IN THE GAME THAT GOES FOR THE OBJECTIVE)


Second game:
Our team: 3 Enemies: 5

{I was telling everyon to either: Wait with readying up or let one from their team join us, nothing of the sort happened, we lose horribly)

3rd game
Our team: 1 Enemie team: 5

WTF???????? They are actually gonna play against 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! opponent??? yeah [censored] this game I'm out.

4rd game
Our team: 4 Enemies: 5
Wow not to bad, even though I drop in mid-game the teams are pretty even until the game finishes and gues what:
CONNECTION LOST

Fifth gama:
Our team: 2 Enemies: 3

Uhhh yeah, ready to break disc in half now

And a lot of times I join a game to find that it's been going for 5 minutes and the defending team has taken such a strong position, it's virtually impossible to win the game.


Also, why do you guys play game modes with bots. I really can't grasp that. Why? why would you play a multiplayer game with bots?

Because the stacking happens even in the game modes without, and it's usually easier when you have at least a few guns to back you up. I find the numbers in the non bot modes to be lacking at times.


On the subject, auto balance is a nice idea, but the problem (and possibly why it happens on occasion) is that fireteams are the only way to get into games with people you know and auto balance would have to break them up on occasion. They would have to find a way around that first.

I do hate players that stack though, as it's just really ridiculous to have to put up with players that team switch to be on the already stacked team.

^^ yeah but what fun is there in shooting bots, I don't get it, and it seems like the majority of the people play these modes
