How do YOU melee?

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 3:32 am

So I've started using more melee in my Legion playthroughs but it feels as if I'm missing something. So my question to you is:

How do you melee? Do you just swing your weapon quickly at the enemy? Do you only use "power attacks"? Do you block often or at all? Do you only use melee in VATS? Do you use VATS at all? What's your weapon of choice?

At close range :P

Seriously, i close in with standard attacks, and keep doing them if the enemy gets staggered. When the enemy is about to attack i block it and counter with a power attack.

Basically the melee combat i learned in Oblivion.

I use power attack most of the time. I rarely blocks, but time my attack as power attack would stop most attack.

I use the move you learn from the Khans a lot. Dirt in the eyes then power attack with Knock Knock is very effective. Even on asphalt for some reason....

Not really. The enemy just usually recoils back after blocking that gives you a window for a power attack.

I do most of my killing while my enemy sleeps. Killed everyone in Camp Golf without waking a single man. A glorious, and... long night.

I throw a grenade or two, rush my enemy, enter VATS and bash their brains in.

Liberator or Machete Gladius

Tactic? What Tactic? Do you mean ".......slash slash slash slash block POWER ATTACK slash slash slash block block POWER ATTACK......"

And for Unarmed

Love and Hate (I feel weird when I fist fight with only one arm, so most of the time I use these)

LEGION ASSAULT punch punch POWER ATTACK =dead

I dont swing frantically cause they will chop your limbs and damage them so when you go through the animation it usually gets me killed but what i do is i slash em get back to block there counter slash get beack slash get back you might want a companion that is ranged so they whittle down the health so its easier on you if you want a good weapon use chances knife with the grunt and cowboy perks so it will tear em up with like a 75% increase in damage

Ranged attacks while closing distance or lure them in from cover, I usually rush with a power attack and then "dance" while attacking I don't block I move in and out to doge attack while striking back whenever possible.

I go for a standard attack to work out the strenght of my oppent and use power attacks to help me along if their too tough or to get a good crippling hit on them.
My melee weapon of choice is going to be and alway will be Oh Baby!

I try to get Oh Baby! as soon as possible or a bumper sword, I got the Tribal Pack so I use a broad machete for most of the beginning of my games. If I'm in a really heated battle I just hack and slash, there's no real strategy used...usually my unarmed and melee go hand in hand and when I'm unarmed is where I actually use real moves, like ranger takedown that Legion thing and the Sand thing from the Khans, Victoria's block move still confuses me, but I just got it.... :mohawk:
