Vote for Skyrim for E3's Best in Show!

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 7:42 am

What didn't you like Exo? There is some stuff I don't like (the UI, inventory list system) but overall I think it looks pretty good.

It looks like Oblivion in a shiny new suit.

There were three things in Oblivion I hated with fiery passion. The AI, the Engine and the unresponsive controls.

Then they announce Skyrim and I was sooo excited for it. I spend weeks drooling over screenshots of amazingly detailed nord ruins and scary mountains. Everything they announce sounds amazing! out of this world!

E3 starts. I turn one of my monitors into a 24/7 live E3 box. I watch in awe as DICE and other companies show of their games and then finally Bethesda arrives and I start screaming like a little girl who just saw Justin Bieber.

... then I watch some guy shoot arrows at two Bandits in a cave... Apparently it was a magical arrow called "AI BEGONE!" because as soon as the first arrow hits one of the bandits the other one goes into his oh look an arrow, I wonder why it's sticking of out my friends chest pose and turns into a statue while the player slowly draws another arrow and shoots him in the back.

the video goes on and I see the character in some dungeon, moving slowly and clumsily like every single Oblivion creature does, then some monsters run into walls, and I finally realize what is going on

they are remaking Oblivion with fancy graphics and good animations.

I'm pretty sure that the whole "We made the Creation Engine from scratch" thing is BS. It looks exactly like Gamebryo.

also, apparently Bethesda loves Macs and consoles now. Yay for PC Gamers.

excuse me while I re-watch the videos from Bioware, DICE and ID Software. You know, the PC developers that came to E3.

The bandit thing is true, I don't know why the showed it at E3. I also don't see that much of a difference in the game engine, although the animations are improved.

I'll have to buy it for sure though....it's an ES game. I still think it's going to be good.

Skyrim is being designed as a console game.

When is Bethesda going to realize that the only reason TES is so popular is because of the PC gamers and their mods, fanfictions and other amazing things the members of this community have produced over the years?

stupid question, of course they're going to pick the console users before us PC gamers because they can make more money that way. Silly me.

As I just said a surprising amount of people on other forums and on the site are picking Skyrim, even on the SWTOR BF3 and Ubisoft forums. Everyone was given a fair chance to vote their game.

How is that surprising? People have had their hands down their pants about Skyrim every since it was announced. Doesn't matter what game forum you're going to head off to, you will end up getting Skyrim as the highest vote. It MIGHT be BF3 if you go to those specific forums, but everywhere else is going to be Skyrim.

And you titled a thread "Vote For Skyrim for E3s Best in Show". Since you're asking people about a broad asortment of games, wouldn't it of been wiser to make it "Vote for E3's best in Show", instead of making it blatently obvious from the start this threads only reason is to exist to get Skyrim more votes? <_<

the best of show is clearly BF3. they blew everyone else out of the water with what they can do with that frostbite engine, and not just the amazing graphics but the full destruction of entire buidlings that isnt prescripted..........does anyone realize how gamechanging that is.

the game im most looking forward to is a tie between deus ex and skyrim and rage and BF3 and dead island and duke nukem FINALLY DONE!!! ........oh hell its impossible to have a favorite game cause this years is just fantastic for games. :)

Am I the only one who was throughly un-impressed by the supposedly re-vamped combat system? It looked like it played exactly like OB except now with dual-wielding, there is twice as much button-mashing fun. Not impressed in any regards tbh with the demo.

The title on the SWTOR forums is Vote for SWTOR, the one on the BF3 is Vote for BF3 because those are the games on their respective forums. It's simply a way to get people who are here for that game and enthusiastic about it to show their support for it. Also after they click they can clearly read the actual content of my original post which says right there in it that you can vote for your favorite game/moment of e3 regardless of whether or not it's Skyrim.

Your blind cynicism isn't valid here good sir.

This says exactly why I didn't go with Skyrim.

To their credit though, that cooked salmon looked wonderful. Granted they had to cut millions of other things because the artists took up most of the games budget but the food in that menu will look sooooo life-like.

You're not the only one. I posted the same sentiments on the first page.

I want more information on the quest system and level scaling :yucky: before I make a decision, but it's not a first day buy that's for sure.

Bias much?

We're on the bethesda forum.

Even the haters will buy skyrim and get some enjoyment out of it.

Just because it's the Bethesda forum doesn't mean we have to worship everything they produce.

I joined for Morrowind anyways, not Oblivion.

Yeah, not looking forward to Skyrim much anymore from what I've both seen and read about it. At least I won't run out and blindly buy the CE like I did with Oblivion. However, there are plenty of other potentially great games on their way, like Deus Ex 3, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars 2.

The first and second featured posts both tell you where to vote on the site as well as the fact there's a poll here and as the original post says you could just vote here if you'd like. I also stated you could send an e-mail to webmaster@thegamingaim.com :)

I realize the following probably says more about me than the voting method, but I was expecting a poll. (Not just here.) Instead I was asked to comment, or email someone......no thanks. I to lost interest and closed tab, though I really wanted to support Skyrim.

Forgive me for being lazy/a private person, but I just wanted a simple (anonymous) poll. (Maybe next year?)

I did vote here however. Go Skyrim!

The problem with the poll is that it showed a visual representation (I didn't end up putting polls in any other forum but here) and I didn't want people to be discouraged from voting if one game was particularly more popular than any of the other games. I tried the poll out here though as a test and it seemed to work good (though skyrim is clearly the winner on these forums) and I really wanted people to comment on why they picked their particular game which could then turn into bigger discussions such as the 38 page thread on the SWTOR forums.

The anonymous vote encouraged an overall lack of participation but next year we might try and just do a poll instead to get more votes :).

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/07/e3-2011-new-deus-ex-human-revolution-screenshots-sneak-out-of-e3/ That's enough. Best game of E3. So where's the option? :verymad:

The E3 Skyrim showing did nothing but dissapoint me really, with Todd saying there will be only three factions, some rather dull looking locations shown and one of the producers saying it will be 'skewed' towards console and then they will make a PC port which will be 'not too bad'.

Did they actually say they were making it more towards consoles?
