Does BRINK deserve a comeback/revival?

Post » Sun Jun 12, 2011 4:57 am

I know many of you are fans of BRINK, but I was wondering if you guys think BRINK should get more credit for Slash Damages first console game. Post why or why not.

Deserve? No, not quite so much.
But would it be nice, yeah. Everyone should get a second chance... erh, well mostly. Hopefully another one won't be bogged down by whatever changed the game so much and turn out what they truly wanted. Or closer to it.

No, you eff up a game this badly at launch and you deserve the bad press.
Quake Wars only has like 50 people playing on a daily basis. http://www.xfire.com/games/etqw/Enemy_Territory_Quake_Wars/ which is their other most recent title.
They hit gold with Wolfenstein ET though, still well over 3000 players and its 8 years old.

The game's direction is not in sync with what the current audience wants and needs. Shows a lack of understanding in the genre.

If SD is hiring I can send a resume and portfolio. This game can be salvaged and made into at least a cult success at this point.

That was kinda the point of Brink...

SD knew what they were doing when they did it full knowing that most people wouldn't understand. You look like you don't understand it either.

I just feel like that people should give it a while and see what they try to mold it into. I agree with many of you but SD tried to give people a different variety of game, that takes teamwork and not like COD, a one-man-get-all-of-the-kills-game.

The playerbase just isnt there. With such an abysmal launch, it will be near-impossible to get ANY new players, and with such few players, the game cannot retain its fun factor for too long. I don't need thousands and thousands of players to have fun. I've been playing ET for years, and it has maybe 5000 total active players, but I still have a blast. But with 1500, Brink was a major letdown.

BRINK tried to go in a radically different direction. This is just proof that gamers are stubbornly attached to mainstream FPSes.

Yeah, i'm so stubbornly attached to mainstream FPS's that don't screw up their launches.

Silly me.

Not their first console game, they ported Quake wars over and it was bad too.

But isn't that the rub though as Brink was not radically different. I enjoy Brink but it certainly does not feel like an evolution of the genre.

Oh, not at all. It's different, yes, but not as radically changing as they said it would be.

yeah everyone needs a second chance.

The problem is.. I don't know what you entail with your question.

At this point, I guess pumping out as much content as SD can possibly manage, balancing it out more, fixing problems, listening to the community, and people trying to get the community back together are all you can really do....

I mean its just hard now... but hopefully it can work out I love the game.. can't stand playing without my buddies though.. when they are not on its not enjoyable at all, and out of every 5 games of being on a random team with all mics only 1 will actually be enjoyable to play with.

Its hard to enjoy this game when you lose to or are losing, because the game revolves around one single element.. OBJECTIVES and teamwork. When you strip those two and make it near to impossible to perform, it really is difficult to want to continue.

I'm aware.
But to put it in perspective, Wolfenstein ET (also only referring to Xfire users) has over 3000 players.

I'd like it to, but that doesn't mean it deserves one. If they manage to push out some nice, polished DLC, and maybe fix some of the problems(Xbox 360), i'll stick around.

It would be nice to get into a Freeplay match that actually has some human players in it. Last night I put the disc in for the first time in a while, and tried to get in a few matches. First one I got into had 6 players, but guess what? They were all on the same team, and that also happened to be the other team, leaving me to fend for myself. Wasn't enjoyable at all. The next one I got into, there was another player on the other team, but as soon as I got into the match, he left. The next match I got into was by myself.

If I wanted to play co-op campaign or SP, I would do so. I want to play Free play, 8v8. Not 6v1. I wish the matchmaking would put me into a nearly full match. The only time I managed to get into a near full match is when I wanted to play with five other friends, and obviously I couldn't fit a party of 6 into a 6v7 match.

QFT.

There were a few things I expected from BRINK that didn't happen. Not saying the game isn't good, or svcks or any of that. I love this game and hope it flourishes.

It's just players nowaday don't have the patience OR MONEY to sit here and just WAIT for whenever SD/Bethesda decide to update us on the situation. I blame the economy!

If it's ONE THING developers can't be doing right now is just ignoring the masses who play the game that they've created for us, the masses.

Why do you think Halo Reach, Halo 3 are dying ever so slowly until 343i takes over? Because in the end Bungie just wanted money, enough money to start there new project and completely leave Halo with it's face down in the dirt, rib cage shattered.

I don't get where these devs think "Oh, they'll buy our game it's so epic, if we make enough money then MAYBE they might get DLC/updates quicker... until then we will rule there pockets!!!"

=.=
