"That Gun" ?

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 3:16 pm

So I went to go get boone from Novac after Un-Recruiting Lily and to get to him you need to go through this shop. So I had some deathclaw eggs that needed selling so I sold them and I saw a gun that this guy was selling called "That Gun" ? what is it? I bought it for i think 700 caps and it uses 5.56 mm ammo. Its ALWAYS a one shot kill..for Humans. For creatures its usually 3 or 4 shots. Its a little pistol that is actually really in affective against Cazadors. But it is good. Is there any refrence to this gun in any way? And why is it called "That" Gun?

its modelled after Deckards gun in blade runner..and was in fallouts one and 2, presumably its called that gun because people kept asking "will that gun be in the game?"

There's one word that describes it perfectly: SWAG

If you wait for the gift shop to close at night in Novac, you can steal That Gun quite easily. Its behind a very easy locked door, where all the dino rockets are. Its right behind where the cash register is.

Enjoy the little powerhouse. Another interesting tidbit that makes That Gun pack a wallop: It's the only pistol weapon that can load dedicated armor-piercing rounds.

Currently the revolver of choice for my Lucky Cowboy Sniper build. It doesn't have the punch of The Mysterious Magnum but the critical multiplier suits him just fine. Its worth using for awhile until you get into the higher levels (15) or so, at that point I suggest switching. Unless you have the Cowboy perk it quickly becomes outmatched.

I don't know, with the new patch it become the most powerful 5.56mm. HP and AP rounds are plenty, if you have Jury Rigging you can even use Surplus since you can repair it with 9mm Pistols.

Though it was buffed since release it still hasn't filled the role of being pretty much the best pistol (besides EW) in the game like in FO1/2. Seriously, once you had that pistol in those games, you were mostly set. It was really powerful and the ammo was common. Still, it's fine, because it is still a really good pistol even at higher levels and the new design was a huge improvement. Coolest reload in the game, just because of the noise it makes. I would have liked it if it was a quest reward instead of just being bought. Unique weapons deserve a better way to acquire them.

In normal you can get by with Lucky, so there is no reason you can't with That Gun as it is, even if it isn't THE best pistol.

That Gun is a nod back to Fallout and Fallout 2 as well. It was called the .223 pistol, since there is obviously no .223 caliber rounds in New Vegas, can't really call it that. So they called it 'That Gun' because people who played the originals would go 'OH I'VE USED THIS BEFORE! IT'S THAT GUN FROM FALLOUT!'

Its a very versitile wep even late game due to the fact it has Armor piercing rounds and hollow points at its disposal its a shame that there isnt a handload variant for the 5.56mm round
