Honest Hearts Teaches..

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 2:38 am

I've completed Honest Hearts, and I've realized something. I've begun a type of weird weight exchange. Before I even began Honest Hearts I used to carry 270 pounds of weapons, armor, etc. But now that I had to bring my weight to below 100 (I used my skill check) and now that I'm back I'm carrying less than I ever have before. I am carrying a mere 158 pounds out of 290. That's about a 100% difference. Honest Hearts taught me to carry less because I now realize that some items I used to carry before, were what I never really used, and I still carry some items I don't really use but I guess it's just a habit just in case I ever need a smaller/bigger weapon.

My question to you is: What has Honest Hearts taught you?

Honest Hearts taught me to carry less, and it has helped a lot with the speed of my running! :D

I'm about 3/4's of the way through Honest Hearts only because I'm already level 40 and waiting for the next DLC to come out so I can play the DLC and earn EXP again. Honest Hearts has taught me that sometimes fast traveling isn't always the best thing to do. I usually fast travel to the nearest place on the map to speed things up but with Honest Hearts I just find myself wandering around Zion from place to place instead as I really like the place! It's just different to the rest of the Wasteland and it's great with the amount of 0 RAD water all over the place, great when playing on hardcoe mode. I also love the atmosphere and the rain really adds to it. :)

Also, does the less you carry mean the faster you can move? :o

I think so. So does the weight of what armor you wear, whether it's light, medium, or heavy. Holding two handed weapons like the All-American slows you down as well.

Ahh, right. See I run around holding the 9mm Pistol and wearing the Field Hand Outfit as I know they're both light but didn't know how much you were carrying sped you up too, makes sense! Might be time to leave my Anti-material Rifle at home and bring the Hunting Rifle+ out with me instead to get around a bit quicker. ;)

Honest Hearts taught me that you can kill anything with a melee weapon. used a war club to kill ghost of she in hardcoe very difficult. it also taught me that playing in very difficult can be satisfying and adds to the fun of hardcoe mode.

ive always just carried about 85-95 pounds with packrat (explosives char would be like 120 if it wasnt for heavyweight), so the limit was no big deal. a few repair kits and doctors bags, armor, causual outfit, and 6 weapons (to fill hotkey) big weapon (bar, plasma caster, gmg, etc.), rifle, scoped rifle, handgun (for places with weaker enemies), close range (smg or shotgun), and an extra (like a silencer or pulse gun)

I learned that there are more than likely many forest and jungle regions in the world not even close to direcly hit by nuclear weapons.

I also learned that the Burned Man is badass.

And war, war never changes........

I carry one weapon for each weapon slot. Right now I have a sniper character so Pistol, Automatic Rifle, Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, mines (5). .. I always quick slot stimpaks to the bottom. 150 of each ammo type for each gun.. 15, gecko steaks for food and 15 pure waters. Then my armor.. When I fill up on stuff I go back and unload the extra gear... change gear, what have you.. I try to keep it half my total weight. In all reality I could probably lower my food, water rations because I find plenty .. I just never have.
I also haven't bought a thing through this play through.. I'm going on total found items.

the amount of items in your inventory DOES NOT affect how fast you run unless you're overencumbered

Kind of the same thing as you. I found that I didn't pick up a lot of the items in HH because I knew I can find tons of it in the Mojave. Only picked up one of kinds and items unique to HH like cave fungus and those flowers and .45 caliber guns, hats, stuff like that. I did not pick up any water because it was so plentiful.

I love the setting of HH. All the water and the rain and the enemies. You couldn't walk five feet without being attacked. It was great. I could have stayed there forever.

I don't think carrying less makes you run faster. You can only become over-encumbered when you carry past whatever your top carrying weight. You run slower if you have radiation sickness, are crippled, etc.

Well, I have the Animal Friend perk so my only enemies in Zion were the Yao Guai, Cazadores, and Tribals, so it was easy pickins for me. :3
