Close and in person Explosives character

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:31 pm

I love explosives. But never use them.

So now I'm thinking of doing an explosives only character. Sneak for getting within range, explosives for damage and barter to buy more explosives, cheaper and sell other ammo for more profit.

How do you play your explosives characters? Explosives as a mere back up addition? Do you even spend points on the explosives skill?

On my explosives character. I tagged Explosives, Barter, and something else I don't remember.
I just go in there and chuck some Grenades or shoot my Grenade Rifle, or even throw some Dynamite.
But that's probably not the best way to do explosives, so I just couldn't stay away from Guns. I raised my Guns skill to 25 on my explosives character.

How many explosives weapons benefit from fast reloading? Because that'd mean I could get Guns to 30 and take the rapid reload, which I did on my energy weapons character too.

I'm not sure, but I am pretty sure that rapid reload affects the reloads of Grenade Rifles/Launchers, Missile Launchers, Fat Man, anything that reloads, not sure about Grenades or Dynamite, or anything else thrown.

Can normal enemies (humans) be reverse pick-pocketed? Such as fiends? So I can place a mine there, :hubbahubba:

Again, I'm not sure (never tried myself) about it. But I think it can be done only if you are not seen.

Thus I picked sneak :)

But I guess all explosives are loud as ****? One kaboom and my cover is blown :D

This will be fun.

Place C4 on your target(s), via reverse pickpocketing
Hide. Make sure you're [Hidden]
Use the Detonator.
Boom!
If you are not caught, they won't know its you who set the explosives off.

But a C4 costs 999 caps O_O I've never fired a single C4 though, lol. i need to start doing it. Like they did in the demo, reverse pick pocket a C4 into a large group of NPCs and then.. boom :D

Edit: I might want to take the mister sandman perk gained from sneak, to silently kill fiends and other sleeping enemies when I infiltrate their camp, placing mines as i go, kill those I can silently and then start throwing grenades around, only to retreat to the mines and get a few easy-but expensive, kill.

Gather lots of caps.
Go to a vendor that sells lots of C4 (Mick, I think) (find C4 in caves and other places)
Save the game.
Buy the C4.
Save on a new save file.
There you go, you have your new C4 fun save. (Feel free to stand in front of a stationary person, save, place C4 around them, detonate, watch, load so you don't waste C4, do it again on another person)
Buy any more C4 you find at vendors.
If you come across C4, pick it up.
