Your Years in Vegas

How many in game years have you been in New Vegas? You start the game in 2281, and I just noticed it yesterday and saw that it was already 2283. I've spent 2 in game years in Vegas! The funny thing is, news from 2281 (Such as the REPCONN rocket launch I did) is still being referred to as "In other news, several unidentified flying objects have been spotted flying over REPCONN Aerospace the other day.." on the New Vegas Radio. That happened 2 in game years ago, and it "happened just the other day" for the past 2 years. x333

How many years (if any) have you spent in New Vegas? Anything interesting happen along the way?

I'm at 2283 aswell.

The game starts in October of 2281, so getting to 2282 isn't so hard. As for 2283, for some reason revisiting Zion does this. The Courier apparently gets lost on his second return to the Mojave and spends a good 8 months doing god knows what.

I reached the spring of 2282. I then died of exhaustion from wearing a jacket while it was so damn hot.

But in all seriousness, I wouldn't let it get past 2282 as the battle is definitely supposed to take place before then.

There is a bug in Honest Hearts that make almost a year pass. I'm glad I didn't get it.

I think the whole 8 month thing, is just the dev's way of showing how the Happy Trails Caravan knew what they were doing, and once you were on your own, things didn't go as planned. I sure would like to know what happened along the way, though. There's quite a bit of stuff to do between Zion and the Mojave. :3

Well, that's just not true. For one, unless your character had an intelligence bellow 4 finding the Mojave would be easy due to road signs, basic sense of direction, etc. if they did get lost, I seriously doubt it would be a 7 month and 2 week delay for a 160 mile trip. Strictly between Vegas and Zion, there probably isn't much to do that would be of interest to a wastelander anyway (I don't think many wastelanders would really be into much canyoneering).
Also, it's a bug. Not everybody gets an 8 month long time interval.
