[REL/DATA] FormID Diffs

Post » Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:06 pm

I've compiled a list of changes so far from the orig game to the post-1.3 patch.
I'll add more diffs if/when more updates occur.

So this is a first step in the goal of making updating existing mods easier.

I was thinking of using this data to create a mod so users could load it and get a list of suspect ID's printed to console.
The problem though is that not all the changed ID's would actually be loaded to query.
So going to that effort when it will likely miss many of the potential errors in loaded mods seems like a non flyer.

The last time I programmed a windows exe was for v3.1, so there won't be a simple to use program following this by me.
I could make an ID checker that would need cygwin & perl, but I think a person more at home on Windows would be able to make a more 'usable' solution.

Ideas?

This might be more helpful if it was an esp that we could do some fnvedit comparisons on...

but it's pretty scary how sloppy it seems the patch was, replacing formids with completely different forms.

I've just uploaded a tsv which will be easier to read.

Yep, I guess an esp would be better.
I've never used the Wye Flash tools but IIRC there's an export/import feature? (Off to look)
That might help make an esp.
Failing that, a python script to compare mods against the diff files.

I know someone, pretty sure JustinOther, did a diff esp for an early patch. Maybe find that in geck forum or contact him and find oyut hoe. I'm pretty sure he did it in fnvedit
