Do you have any friends that have it? If you can I'd recommend borrowing it and trying it out for an evening as it isn't necessarily a game for everyone. The community has greatly diminished due to the issues it was released with, but it is still a great game to play online with your buds. I think there's a PS3 thread somewhere with a chat set up so you can get into matches with real people easier so you might want to look into that too.

Edit: Looks like there's a few threads around in the Brink Multiplayer Discussion, just search PS3.

There are still a LOT of PS3 players, there's actually some decent chat rooms that run 8v8 games and if you add the right people, you can just follow your friends into some great games.

The game does appear dead at first sight, but it's so much that the game is dead as it is that the matchmaking is just unreliable. It seems to only want to match you up into games with people that give you good ping... which eliminates about 99% of players around the world.

If you have friends who play the game or make new friends on forums like these however, and add people you play well with in-game, then you can just team up with them. If not, then I suggest renting first, since about 50% of online games you join/create will be bots-only until a human or two joins... and even though I personally love playing single-player, it's definitely not for everybody.

if you do decide to rent or buy it make sure you get a chatroom invite before sinking your teeth into multiplayer , otherwise its mostly bot-zone depending on where you live and you'll most likely be disappointed, but full 8v8 games on brink are really great.

Agreed, the game is not dead, i have it for the PS3 also, and although the matchmaking system doesn′t work at all, wich makes you think there is no one playing online, when you gather some friends and go online you have a lot of fun. It has a bit of lag, but it works WAY better than UT3 for example.

Its a good and original game and i encorauge you to buy it, i have 6 friends of mine with it and a lot more buying, the game can still be a killer if Splash Damage gives it the due care!
